For Christmas my mother got me a Desmo handbag. I know they are more known for their clothing but this bag is really a nice one imo. The leather was so soft and it carried well.

After two days of wearing it I started to notice it looked like some wear on the middle part by the weave and after a week it’s only gotten worse. I took some leather cleaner to it and I admit that did help but some of it looks like it’s cracking.

I know this isn’t necessarily a designer brand, I think their handbags retail for about $350 and I know my mother got this on either a sale or clearance. But is it so much to expect something like that to last more then a week? I know it was in perfect condition when I got it and I know my mother would never buy anything with a flaw. Is there anything I can try to do to fix it or prevent it from wearing any more?

I was wearing a cashmere coat with it and I noticed some of the fuzzies got on the bag but that was easily wiped off with a cloth. It could be color transfer but it's odd it's only happening on that one area, along the weave. I think it's just wearing out in that area.

adoptastray: it was Marshalls. Since it was a gift I'm not sure if returning it is an option. Besides that I love the bag.

I'd try taking it back. But sometimes the discount stores will just tell you "tough luck". It's worth a try though, on the assumption that it's going to get more and more beat up.

That's a great idea! Thanks anne I will do that. Till I hear back I'm just going to stop using it and see what they say.

I hope they do the right thing and reimburse you or send you a new bag. They aren't huge here in the States, but they are a relatively large company and their goods are supposed to be quality, so I would think they would want to do right by their customers.

Good luck! :smile1:
