After the elation of receiving my new bucket yesterday after the May 14 relaunch, I took time to inspect it. I am very particular about stitching so I was disappointed to find not only a loose stitch but an incomplete one. I thought at first that it was excess thread but as you can see from the photo, it needs to go one more extra hole.

I emailed MG immediately since they have a 48 hour window to report any quality/manufacturing issues. I hope they can resolve this. Any chance that any of you have experience with MG's after-sales service?

Thanks!

PS. From MG website: ALL MANSUR GAVRIEL PRODUCTS AND MATERIALS ARE MADE IN ITALY. YOUR SATISFACTION IS OF GREAT VALUE TO US, AND WE WILL REPAIR ANY AND ALL MANUFACTURING DEFECTS IN AS TIMELY A PERIOD AS POSSIBLE.

Sorry that you are disappointed :( I had the same problem as you. The corner stitching of my black flamma bucket came out only a couple of months after I bought it and I hardly used her, I think I posted a photo of it on the main thread last year.

MG were EXCELLENT. I emailed Christian who immediately arranged for a courier to pick it up and send it to their factory in Italy to be repaired. Took 3 weeks for the entire process (send bag, repair and back to me). I didn't pay a single cent.

Don't wait - email them straight away.

I had a great experience with MG when I received a bag that had some stitching issues last year. They were kind and efficient in replacing the bag.

Hi there! I'm new to the forum and new to MG. I too was so excited to score a brandy tote on 5/14 but when I unwrapped my purchase, three was a large area on the backside of the tote that wasn't tanned correctly (large strip that is lighter than the rest of the bag) and it came with lots of deep scratches. I expected scratches to come as I used the bag, but is it normal to have it arrive like that? I also emailed them right away and haven't received a response to date. I was just wondering if you have heard back from them? Thanks! :)

Can you post some pics? There have been some bags that have arrived with flaws, texture, color etc. Sometimes MG will simply attribute these to the natural tanning process, which can show imperfections. But, as many of us have found, a lot of the bags are fairly "perfect" and they never show the imperfect ones in press or marketing. So, I think it's only fair that they replace those that are clearly not up to par.

Hi JetSetGo! Here are a couple of pics that hopefully adequately show my concerns. There are quite of few of those deep scratches (white marks) on the entire tote. The ones in the pic are just in the area of uneven tanning. Again, just not sure if this is normal or not. I greatly appreciate any input!

I think it's a natural part of the hyde, as there are some variations with this type of treated leather. I use leather conditioner on my bags often and this helps them to maintain an even color. Are you really unhappy with the bag?

Not really unhappy but just a little disappointed after seeing pictures of other people's bags.....

Thanks for your input! I actually just heard back from MG customer service and they offered me an exchange or refund. I'm opting for the exchange (they said they'll have new inventory in early July) since it was hard for me to get my hands on this one and I really do love the color and style!

Just an UPDATE. MG responded to my email in 24 hours asking for my address since they said they will happily replace the bag. I received the prepaid label 48 hours after that. Once they received the bag in NYC return department, they sent out the new one 24 hours after. It is currently on its way with an expected delivery date tomorrow.

I believe that most vegetable dyed leather have these imperfections, handbg. Some areas being drenched with it than most. I use natural beeswax to coat my veg leathers and it works wonderfully. Scratches will happen. Don't worry because it will fade in time. :smile1::smile1:

Great news for both of you!
