Wow, I am stunned. While I don't inspect my bag, I do look at it when I use it and I use it a couple of times a month.

I was taking a closer look and have been considering getting the leather replaced and I noticed two corners have tiny rubs that LV might even consider a tear. They are not torn, but they are nearing a tear. I was disappointed to notice that, but it is a well used 40-year old bag, and I do not baby it.

As I was putting the strap back inside (I always put it away with the straps inside) and I noticed that the strap flopped in a funny way. I picked it up and was stunned to see the strap was actually broken. It is hanging on by the threads (high praises to LV thread).

The bag is from 1983, but the strap is not. I bought a younger strap an until just now, I never noticed any problems with it.

I used it over the weekend and it was very heavy. I cannot believe the threads held.

I mean, I guess there's nothing to do, but dang. I had to share with people who can commiserate.

Sounds like the leather already had weakened, try to pull it on other part of this leather piece see to if it will break? Some vintage leather would weak like paper, looks OK but easily torn apart.
