my first Gucci, can't decide!

I've always been a LV girl, but I'm in the market for a new bag and LV doesn't have anything that I've been really wanting. The thing is, I love the classics.. if I am going to buy a bag I want it to be something I can use for 20+ years and pass down to my children.

That said, I am really loving the Ophidia Small Supreme Crossbody but I am so interested in the Marmont mini camera bag in black as I don't own any black bags. Which would you go for as your first Gucci? I'm also open to other style suggestions! Would you think that Marmont will be a classic in the years to come or is this just a trendy piece of the moment?

Marmont is definitely what I think the Gucci it bag of this era considering how popular it is. It can totally be a classic bag in the future. Ophidia on the other hand is already a classic. I think marmont is awesome and will always be somewhat of a staple to Gucci kinda like the soho disco bag but I don’t think it will ever be a “classic” in the sense of the speedy or the Alma. Have you considered the dome shape ophidia?? I love that one. The silhouette with the web and gg zipper, it’s truly a vintage classic piece. Happy hunting :)

I personally love the Marmont! And, from a durability perspective, I'd always pick leather for longevity. To me, the Marmont represents the best of the old and the new. I think it has staying power as well; I see the Marmont logo being adopted by all ages and both sexes, so it has that universal appeal while remaining fresh. Good luck making your fun choice, and show us pics when you decide! :smile:

If you are a fan of LVs Mono range then I can see why you would like the Ophedia and you probably have a good idea of how it would fit in with your wardrobe.

The Marmont is a classic looking bag (somewhat Chanel-y) so in some senses it won't date for that reason but I think there will be a lull in it's 'it' bag status.

Perhaps go for the best of both worlds and buy a lovely suede/web-stripe Ophedia?

Red suede is beautiful for certain but when it comes to longevity I would not choose suede, difficult to take care of. I would go for the logo print in the Ophedia. The Marmont bags are beautiful, I own the backpack in red and it is an amazingly eye catching bag. You have chosen my favorite Gucci bags so I cannot say what you should purchase but whichever you go with I think you will love.

I agree with @papertiger that the marmont is kinda the “it” bag for now, with a classic type shape to it. I’m also an LV gal and suggest the Ophidia. However, as for 20 year life expectancy for a bag, I wouldn’t count on it for LV or Gucci. But who knows. Good luck. Let us know what you decide.

One other option would be a disco which is both practical and classic. But I think the mono Ophidia is a classic beauty.
