Congrats! Beautiful bag. I don't leave my straps in the guides because I have found that unless you've locked it, they slide around and it scratches the metal.

The cadena is the lock ... there is no "correct" way to wear anything, just how you feel comfortable!

Ohhhh, a big congratulations to you!!! A cadena is a lock .. H brings out a new lock/cadena each year but you can find the older ones on eBay and sometimes in the H stores, also. Here is a thread showing the cadenas. The decorative cadena would replace the original one on your bag.

Also, the straps are best not put in the guides that way. If they move through at all, the hardware will get scratched. Look through the Birkin thread to get ideas!
