Oh my goodness y’all. So recently a friend of mine’s mum passed away after a long illness. In going through her things he came across a bag he remembered from 30 years ago….a black vintage Chanel flap.

After some thoughtfulness it was decided the bag should find a new home with me, as I would give it many many adventures.

We did authenticate it before he shipped it to me, just to make sure the rigamarole was worth it. But, she’s real, she was never carried and she’s now in my possession!

It’s a black lamb skin, the leather is buttery soft and I had ordered some cleaner and conditioner in anticipation of her arrival. She’s a series “1”, and has the sticker inside along with the authentication card from Chanel.

I am just over the moon. We went to Paris for the first time last fall and I had always said “I’m buying a Chanel bag when I finally go to Paris”, but I just couldn’t pull the trigger as nothing seemed “right”.

This bag is “right”. I can’t get over how amazing the condition is. That it came from one of my dearest friends makes it even more special.

The age old adage “good things come to those who wait” is so true!!

Or just find a friend who inherits a Chanel bag and sends it to you.

This is what a Chanel Success looks like. A great story, a beautiful bag, a forever piece to own.

Right?! I had honestly given up on ever owning a Chanel bag. I just couldn’t come to terms with the price increases…I had been idly looking at some vintage pieces but it never felt right.

And then this. It’s just. Perfect.

The best part is in retracing his mums work history, the bag was a gift from a family she worked for, and the age of the bag indicates it was when she worked for the royal family and was leaving for another opportunity. So there’s a fun little fact.

I’m taking her on her first Big Adventure next week. I usually take more than one handbag on a trip but this time I have planned my entire wardrobe around the bag. My husbands comment was “I should have just bought you one years ago, think of all the money I would have saved”.

LOL.
