After months of looking for a black city - I think I finally got my hands on a keeper - at least I think so.

And since the search function is down - I have a couple of questions for your experts out there:

1) The white manufacturer tag reads:

2007 3 115748 D941T 206 SAC

I know that this bag is from F/W 07 - but what does the rest of the stuff mean? I thougth "T" was for 2008 but it says 2007 so I am confused.

And the bag is "Chevre" - was there a mix of leather used in 07 - were some Chevre and some Agneau?

The problem with some of the other cities I saw were they were not dark and saturated, but almost grey. This one is definitely a rich black..but what concerns me is the piping around the side and bottom corners of the bag - it seems lighter in color almost as it has a bit of wear of them. Is that common?

I was told the bag was new when I purchased it, but who knows if it was a return. Is there normally a little removable plastic filmy thing that covers the metallic plate on the inside of the bag - because this bag didn't have one.

And lastly - can someone link to me a thread of how to post pics. I have never done that.

As for leather - yes there was a mix of Chevre and Agneau in 07 esp Fall.

Some of the piping on my bags is a slightly lighter colour too, it's never bothered me.

As for the plastic film - I can't remember if mine came with it... actually I don't think they ever did.

It is strange the paper tags says 2007 but metal plate says T. I wonder if the store mixed them up? Regarding the plastic film, some brand new bags I got don't have that either. There is no scratch on the plate, right?

This is dyed nature leather. I did see some recent years bags color was not all even. For myself, I care about the leather quality first and color next. If you like its leather, and its color is saturated, I'd say this is a keeper; otherwise return it and keep looking. You spent a fortune on the bag, you have to like it.

About posting pictures, you could save your pictures on your computer and make sure their size is not too big. Then click the little paper clip sign on the tool bar (next to the A), click Browse, and point to the location where you saved the photo, and click Upload. Those pictures will be the thumbnail so people can click on theose thumbnail and view the pictures.

I think you are referring to the "T" on the paper tag. If so, I think it just stands for regular hardware. It's the "T" on the silver tag that signifies 2008.

i got a 08 S/S Black City and it came with a plastic film on the metal plate.
i bought the bag from BalNY in March.
hope that helps!

Thanks everyone for your responses. The metal plate does have a U so it is a F/W 07. I was just confused because the paper tag that came with the bag has a "T" in the series of numbers, but now I know that indicates a regular hardware bag.

I called the SA that I bought the bag from and she assured me it wasn't a return - that it was a new bag.

I will take pics tomorrow to show what I am talking about with the lighter colored piping. I am so sad - almost in tears because I have been looking and looking for a black city. :sad:

The body of the bag is perfect..just the piping that I think looks off..I don't know if I am being overly picky. Plus I looked through clubhouse threads of the cities and black cities and I didn't see anything as obvious as what I have.

Thanks again for providing a place to let me vent...my SO is getting sick of me showing him the piping. ;)
