My first bag - envelope or puffer and which colour?

I'm looking to buy my first YSL bag. I already have a black D&G crossbody, a small brown Tory Burch Perry Tote and a giant beige Prada tote which I never use. I was looking at the Tory Burch Kira Chevron shoulder bag, but the logo seems a bit too large and obvious on that one, and I've heard there are quality issues.

My wardrobe has no distinct style, and I tend to wear bolder accessories (Hermès scarves mostly), and I already have a few novelty bags (a giant fuchsia flamingo is on its way). Therefore, I want more classic styles. A black YSL crossbody would work and is timeless, but I already have a black D&G. I'd like a lighter colour, maybe a beige, but I'm really worried about colour transfer or staining it... I would ideally also want a bag that's quite light in weight, and a bag that will be my go-to that matches with most outfits, even the crazy ones. Would the envelope or the puffer bag would be better for me? Which colour do you recommend for a first-timer?

(I'd be digging into my savings, but I have enough savings to buy the bag several times over, so it would be a splurge but won't put me any close to debt). I'm in my mid-twenties if that helps!

My vote would be the dark beige puffer in small. The small size is extremely versatile, and the puffer can be both dressy and casual. Dark beige is a great neutral as well. The envelope bag would lean much dressier, imo. It also comes in dark beige and other neutral colors like the puffer does. I do think it would be heavier than the puffer pending the size you were looking for. I will add I am a bit biased towards the puffers, as I’ve had 3 of them, and they’re some of my favorite bags.

Puffer. Dark beige or blanc vintage. Or dusty grey but I think that color been discontinued. The puffer is very comfortable. I am also biased though in saying the puffer as it is one of my favorite bag styles.

Another vote for the puffer in dark beige GHW. Mine is a small in black with SHW (to change it up from the LouLou in dark beige that I already have) and it fits so much because of one compartment. It can fit my essentials (phone, keys, card case, etc), a kindle fire 7 tablet and a small water bottle and still have room for more (but wouldn't suggest it because of the weight). I did get an organizer so that things don't get lost in a black hole.

Also, the lambskin leather is just so lush and dreamy to the touch and have had minimal wear and tear despite using it regularly in the winter months.

I just remember that I also own the puffer in the toy size in dark beige and have not had any issues with colour transfer. I did spray it with apple guard.
