My Fax arrived from Hermes FSH!!!

So I have a question for you ladeis. I recived that magical fax today stating that my long awaited birkin i ordered is ready in Paris. I live in the US and was wondering if it is a good idea to have it shipped? Has anyone done this? are there customs duties here in the US? How much are they ?(i'm getting a birkin in clemnce.) How much more am I spending if i ship vs pick it up from the store?? Would love any advice or insight form anyone's expreince!

Yes, you will be paying customs whether they ship or you pick up (unless you sneak it in and risk a penalty), and it will probably be somewhere in the neighborhood of $500 or more (emphasis on the "or more"). Check out the Customs website so they can give you a better idea of precisely how much it will be.

Did you order it in this country? If so, they should be sending it to the store where it was ordered.

Hi. I haven't done this myself, but you can count on duty. I have had things shipped from other countries (in and out of Europe), and I always pay duty. I don't remember ther percentage, as it's been a year or so. CONGRATS on the arrival of your bag!

Duty is about 9%. Fedex or DHL will bill you for it separately a few weeks after your bag arrives. As you can tell from the fax, the VAT is already accounted for. Have it shipped. Fast, easy. Congratulations, those faxes are always very exciting.

so just to make sure i got this right... If i ship it as opposed to pick up in perosn, i will pay extra for the shipping and 9% for duties but the VAT dedcuted is the same? Is that right. How long did it take you to get it?

Yes, if you opt for the bag to be shipped - the total amount payable as you see in your letter wld have already been less 10% VAT.

I just had a birkin order shipped from paris (FSH) - it took about 1 week to reach me (they received my $$ on monday & the bag was shipped on wednesday)

You should call them after payment is made (give them abt 1-2 days after you sent payment) & get a tracking number for your coming package.

NOTE: my order was not shipped via fedex or DHL, it was from another courier company called HUBNET so thus why my package might have taken longer to receive - FSH explained the different courier company used was due to the location I was in.

I have received my order from FSH recently - the Kelly 32 Retourne, Box Calf.
I've responded to the fax from them right away and the bag arrived within a week as well. The DHL customs duty invoice was received a couple of weeks later and showed the amount due $563 (this inovice shows the item value $5,993).
