My late husband passed away a little over two years ago, and since then I put my engagement ring and wedding band away in the jewelry box. But lately I was thinking to have a jewelry designer make a custom-made pendant for me using the diamond on my engagement ring and my Tiffany platinum wedding band (which has his name engraved on the inside). I'd like to have that as a keepsake and I can wear the pendant all the time (instead of having them sitting in the jewelry box). And in the future I can pass it down to my daughter.

So I asked if anyone in LA area could recommend me a good custom jeweler. A few of you recommended 23rd Street Jewelers in Santa Monica. I ended up went to their Manhattan Beach location.

Yesterday I went to pick up my custom-made pendant! And here it is! I love love love it~~

I think they did a very good job. I like how the pendant came out looking very classy, timeless and elegant. I also like how they set the diamond -- it actually looks bigger now with this setting compared to the setting on my original engagement ring!

That is so beautifull. Your DD will treasure it forever.
It is so nice you can wear it close to your heart. :)
Hope you are doing well.

Thanks!! Yes, I love that now as I wear it, his name (engraved inside the original wedding band) will always be close to my heart!! And I also know that someday, our daughter will also treasure it in loving memory of him.

Wow! They did a fantastic job and the pendant looks gorgeous! I love that they were able to keep the engraving intact for you to view.

Your story made me teary eyed.

Wow, what a stunning necklace and a wonderful tribute to your husband. I am glad you were able to find a good custom jeweler to properly do both your diamond and the ring justice so that you can see it everyday and not have to keep it hidden in a jewelry box. Even though it's been two years, I will keep you in your thoughts, fellow panda lover :hugs:

Thank you everyone!! To me, the pendant is quite symbolic -- the rings were unworn and untouched for over 2 years, as if they also got buried inside my jewelry box as I buried my husband....but I didn't want that, I want to keep his memory alive, because even tho he is not physical here, he was, is and will continue to play an important role in my life as well as our daughter's life. I wanted to be able to transform something bad and tragic into something good and beautiful. I myself have been transformed as well, I have become braver, stronger, more passionate about life, more considerate about others' needs, and more patient when it comes to dealing with ****s in life. So just like the rings, I wanted to transform them into something beautiful, something I can still treasure.

Whoops: I actually talked about the design with the SA there, I told her I wanted to keep his name being shown for me (or my daughter) to view. We decided to have his name facing me (my heart) when being worn.

I just got a little teary eyed... So sorry for your loss. This is one of the most beautiful keepsakes I've seen and how thoughtful that you will pass it down to your daughter so that he is with her always...
