There is a story behind my new wedding band(will wear on July 10, 2011)/wedding gift. So, I saw this ring in March or April of this year. I actually started a post about it entitled "Would you wear a used wedding ring." I fell in love with the band. My fiance and I just got engaged in February, and I saw this band at an antique store that is known for selling used Tiffany, Cartier, etc. It is an older model of the Tiffany Channel set band- 33 points. I thought it was in perfect condition, fit beautifully with my ring, and was an amazing deal. So, I casually suggested to my fiance that I thought this ring would be perfect. (Casually is not the right word. Mentioning every chance I could fits more perfectly
.) About a month later we went back to the store, and my heart just dropped when I saw it was sold. I was really upset by it. It was perfect in my eyes, and now it was gone. So, for the rest of the day I walked around moping. I could not help it. The band was so pretty and such a good deal. So, I had made my fiance promise that if this store had a similar band for a similar price again, then he would buy it for me. For the last few months every time I went back to the store, I always checked the wedding band section. To my disappointment, the band never returned. Sure, they had other Tiffany bands there: channel set rubies and diamonds, channel set sapphires and diamonds, a band from the 1940s (plain platinum), and of course an eternity. Although they were pretty, none compared to the band that was sold.
So, today, my fiance and I were discussing my birthday (which is Friday- got my present early), and I was quite concerned with the gift he purchased for me. (Last year he bought me a necklace that turned my neck green. When I tried to return it, the store was so over-priced for poor quality merchandise that I could not find anything to replace it with.) My fiance was teasing me about my present, and then he decided to give it to me. I saw the bag, and I immediately knew what it was- my band. I was just so shocked. Then he told me the story on when he purchased it. In April (a month after 1st seeing the band), we decided to go to the town where the jewelry store was located. The town was extra crowded that day. So, my fiance decided to find a parking spot and dropped me off in the center of town. I did not see him for a good 35-40 minutes. He would call me periodically and tell me that he was searching for a spot. What my fiance was really doing was purchasing the band ring and running back to the car to hide it. So, for the past few months he kept this band a secret, because he wanted to give it to me for my birthday.
