Hello everyone
This is a long post, so I hope you will bear with me.
My journey with Hermès started 6 years ago when I was looking for a well made leather satchel that would accompany me on weekends. Some of you may recall my first post where I revealed my bicolour Steve messenger bag, 35 centimetres in taupe and bleu sapphir in Clemence. Since that time, I grew deeply in love with the brand and built a close bond with my home store, SA and SM. I soon learnt about the haut à courroies (HAC) and felt that the vertical shape of the bag coupled with its angular, chunky hardware made it a very handsome tote for a man.
My home store however, is on a small island, which although has a relatively high density of women carrying birkins and kellys, does not see the same enthusiasm with H amongst the men. Consequently, the HAC was a bag that eluded me as my store simply did not order it in their regular inventory.
In May 2016, I got a call from my SA saying a special travel bag had arrived. You must come have a look, said my SA. Alas, it turned out to be a Kelly 50cm in Alezan. I turned it down, my heart having been set on the HAC. In Dec 2016, I received another text, urging me to come down to the store. My SM was there, beaming: Navicular, we have received a HAC! My heart was pounding as he unveiled the dust cover to reveal a HAC 40cm in Malachite togo with permabrass hardware. It was my first time seeing the bag in real life! But I let out a heavy sigh, the size was perfect but green wasn’t my colour and I much preferred palladium hardware. I thanked the SM profusely for the offer but again turned it down.
Ah, I could tell this bag didn’t make your heart sing, I could see it in your eyes. Don’t worry, we will find the perfect one for you, my SM said reassuringly.
