My boyfriend asked me that once upon a time:love:
I got what I wanted which was a Princess cut.

Fast forward 8 yrs. . . I'll be upgrading to a bigger diamond in the next 2 yrs and it'll be a round next time ;)

I like princess cuts on other people but they do nothing for my had personally. You really have to see what is going to compliment you. It's soooo cool that he asked!! :yahoo:

ITA. i thought i wanted a princess or maybe a round before i tried on others. turns out i didn't really like either as much as emeralds and cushions. duck into a jewelry store next time you're out and try a few rings on to get an idea of what you like.

congratulations!! :yahoo:

I have a solitare princess cut as my engagement ring, and i love it. nearly married two years, so i am pleased. I have my eternity band with 9 smaller princess cut ones too.

As above do go and try on rings and decide what you like, and then pass on the relevant information. Good luck

^^ Yes, GO out and try stuff on! Go to lots of places and feel great about it. He asked ya what you wanted, now go out there and find the style that makes you smile!--also, you might want to find out the ballpark of the ring budget he has in mind---he doesn't have to TELL you how much he's ACTUALLY paying, mind, just a ballpark figure to help you decide on stone size...no sense in falling in love with a three carat flawless stone when ya know that ain't what you're getting:smile:

Have fun and let us know when it happens!

Totally agree with A-T-G, see if you can get a ball park figure (reminds me of a funny story which I'll save for another time...). I'm not certain, but I imagine different cuts cost less so you can get a higher quality?? maybe?? Okay, that's just a shot from the lip, but both of my rings have been round and I'm always comfortable with their "show" quality.

After you've narrowed it down to about three, take the lad with you and ask his opinion. (Don't want to scare him, but you might as well start in the process of letting him think his opinion counts.;) )

Huge congratulations to you both. Enjoy this time, it's amazing.
