hello,
i am new to this forum and registered because it seemed like the best one that has lots of info on hermes bags..
have been passionate about the birkin bag since my childhood and finally i feel ready to buy my first one!
there isn't a hermes store where i live, so going to the store and inquiring about it there is out of question, so here i am, hoping you savvy ladies will be able to help me!
here they come :)
1) am thinking of getting 35 cm togo w/ silver palladium in olive. i have a laid back style where i wear a lot of beige, grey, green, deep brown and thought an olive color would go with all of them. my second option is the same combo in etuope. which would you recommend more?
2) so how does this work? how long is the wait when i manage to get in a wait list? are there certain times that orders are taken or can i simply go and try to go on the wait list?
3) is it safe to buy on ebay? any recommended trusted sellers? if so, then how much more do i pay on ebay? how much does a 35 cm togo leather birkin cost in a store versus ebay?

actually have so many more questions but dont want to bore you with them right now.. any tips &answers would be appreciated!

thank you

Hi Welcome to tpf, my one piece of advice is to read your head off!!! The hermes section will provide you with all the answers to your questions. every question you have asked is in here! We all had the same sorts of questions as you when we joined.
I am sure others will chip in and answer your questions also.

Get a nice drink and read to your hearts content

hi sammyjoe thank you for ur reply! have been reading and reading for hours! and getting really anxious as it seems that it'll be harder than i thought to bring my fantasy bag home!
dear stylesavvy, actually it's not difficult at all if you are ready to spend the money! although olive is scarcer than etoupe (IMO) I do remember seeing an olive very recently.
i would suggest (also read this suggestion recently) that you go to the reputable sellers thread, print it out, and use it as a reference when you are searching on eBay. Look carefully to compare the price ranges/bag conditions from those sellers.
IF YOU SEE SOMETHING YOU LIKE THAT IS FROM A SELLER OTHER THAN ONE ON THAT LIST, you risk buying a fake, even for thousands of dollars! A great way to set your mind at ease about a bag from a non-listed seller is to post it on the authentication thread. Although the authentication process here is not an absolute guarantee, those volunteer authenticators work together to share their vast expertise.

hi LailaT thank you for the thoughts.. the thing is i guess i am really scared of buying online..but if it ever comes to that, i will remember to follow your advice..
luckily, my sister-in-law just went to paris and i asked her to go to the store and inquire about the olive and etoupe.. i cant wait for her to get back to me with the good news that it wont take years to have my bag! :)
i'll keep you all posted on how it goes..
