Which features do you like/prefer on a bag? Which features would make you reconsider buying a particular bag?

Personally, I prefer bags with
-feet on the bottom
-a pocket on the exterior (preferably back) that will keep my phone and/or keys accessible
-options for multiple carry (adjustable for crossbody or shoulder carry, or a top handle).

I don’t like bags with too much organization—I have a system of pouches and SLGs that transfers from bag to bag as I switch that renders super organized purses annoying. I switch almost daily so generally don’t use more than one interior pocket.

I prefer structured bags that I can carry either in hand or crook of elbow, and that have a shoulder strap. If it’s a crossbody strap, it needs to be adjustable since I don’t like crossbody. Pretty much those are the main requirements. However I do have one quirk when it comes to Brahmin. I adore the little jewelry pocket, even though I never use it. But when looking at a Brahmin the first thing I check inside for is that pocket.i will buy the bag without it but there’s a tiny little stab of disappointment when I don’t see it. Isn’t that sad lol.

I only wear crossbody bags with the occasional exception of a clutch/minaudiere at night. I find that crossbody bags need little attention-I can pretty much ignore them and just leave them on but I’m one that can put a bag down and leave without it so it’s a safety feature for me. I’ve found that I like more unstructured bags that contour against the body for crossbody bags as structured ones slam against the body. I like an interior zippered pocket and an easy access phone pocket for when I’m not wearing my Bandolier which I usually wear. I also don’t like too many pockets as I can’t find anything then.

I agree that straps need to be seriously adjustable. For anyone tall/busty/etc, fixed straps can be way too short.

Feet definitely protect structured bags for those that wear them which I rarely do but I always have a dustbag in the bag I carry so I can safely put it down if needed.

One category that I always have are two black nylon crossbody bags for travel and weather-one large for daytime and a little guy for night. I only use Prada for this category but tons of houses make them.

We all have different needs and tastes but the one truism I’ve found is to check the weight of the bag empty and make sure it’s not going to be too heavy if it’s a shoulder bag-that can really hurt you with time regardless of your age. It matters less with. a crossbody but the weight of heavy leather bags keeps me from using my two most expensive and aesthetically fave bags.

I prefer 3 pockets, either all inside or some outside. I like to have easy access to my phone, chapstick and my card case. Each needs its own pocket but sometimes the chapstick can share a pocket. Everything else I carry I don't need as often so they can all be thrown into the bottom of the purse.

Definitely not too heavy.

I prefer if there a good place to attach a charm.

Comfortable strap and long enough shoulder drop. I like shoulder bags the best. To me, they are the most comfortable and secure.

Leather that feels soft and doesn't show scratches too much.

Bags that stand up when you put them down.

To make its way into my heart, a bag must have
- a well fitted lining
- a little - but not too much - structure
- an interior that's any other color than black (so that I can find my stuff easily)
- at least one inside pocket (but the more the merrier)
- a wide bottom (to make organizing easier)
- material that's anything else than sensitive to water, dirt, scratches and everything else but NO pleather TY.
I think that's about it.
