i called a few stores, went to madison and wall street stores and didnt see it. i asked SAs about it and nothing...

and worse i spent all week reading about different ways to try scarfs, i just hand washed all my silks so they all looks shiny and new... but i must have it...

it is enamel on one side and metal (palladium?) on the other, it is bigger than the twilly rings and smaller than the regular scarf rings. the SA told me that when they were in stock they were around $150-$180... which is about what i have set asside for it.

i dont care if its first hand second hand or third cousin, i wanted it in black or other dark color...

any help would be much appreciated, so feel free to let me know if your store has one for sale or if a trustworthy reseller has one at a fair price...

Hi Wigglystuff - these are particularly tricky to find - but would you consider a horn chaine d'ancre - they can be used with a gavroche and with other sizes that you might acquire in the future - just a thought . . .

i dont know that one, is it this one from maitai'b blog?
http://maitaispicturebook.blogspot.com/2008/04/chaine-dancre-horn-scarf-ring.html

it looks really big, is it the same size as the the regular scarf rings which are far too big for my needs?

The horn is deceptive - it looks pretty similar in size to the metal alterntives, yet it drapes differently and works well with 70s and 90s, and because it's almost recessive in appearance, it's possibly worth a try in store (where it is easier to find) with a gavroche to see if you like the effect. (There is a picture on MaiTai's blog under coffee in Monpellier for a guide.)

I agree with the horn recommendation--I used that until I found a gavroche ring. Have you had an SA do a search? That's how I found mine and had it sent from Hawaii.

hmmm i will give this a shot when i go to nyc on thursday

QUESTION!!

I found one, but its not my ideal color and, its a returned item in used shape... its not bad per se but it looks like it was returned item that got turned it a display item, handprints, and so light scoffing on the silver part... should i take it? or wait for a new, new one?

Hermes usually pride themselves on perfection - if I were you, I'd demand nothing less! I'm surprised that they would offer it for sale. By all means buy a preloved ring, but I'd rather pay a preloved price for it . . .

thank you!!

if i can find it preloved i will do that... i think i will set a side a bold of time tomorrow and call every H store in the nation and when they open so i can describe the item to them...

Wigglytuff,

Also try a search on ebay - asian resellers might have it: bageteria, japandream 7, greenjade927, akiko1120, i believe all these are on the recommended reseller list, but just double check by looking at the list or popping the item in authenticate this scarf.

you could also post a query on id this scarf for sdsurfchick or the other scarf people on SOTD. Its-all-goode website has a ton of great stuff and is authentic. Also check Luxury-shops and Luxury-scarves.

Finally, I don;t remember if these scarf rings were at the last sale, but NY sample sale for Hermes is at Metropolitan Pavilion.com. It is run by sample sale company soiffer haskins, so if you get on their email invite lists, you should get a heads up as to the date of the next sale in March 2010.

Dear Wigglytuff:

I share your interest in the gavroche ring, but have found several alternatives that keep me happy in the meantime. As suggested, the horn chain d'ancre works well and is probably only fractionally larger than than the gavroche ring. My personal favorite is the Hermes Cosmos ring. You can pull the ends through together as shown, or run them horizonatlly. Cosmos is also my go to scarf ring for my 70 cms - so it's very practical.

Good luck with your quests!

When I purchased the Cosmos ring, the SA told me to put in the ends of the scarf through opposite openings. It takes more time that way. When I am lazy, it goes down the middle.:smile1:
