Museum-Heirloom Quality Jewelry Chest/Box Suggestions....

I have accumulated a small collection of a few designer high end jewelries over the past few years and feel that I am ready to invest in a nice jewelry box to store them in. Can someone please give me a few suggestions as to where I can find the finest, highest quality jewelry chest that can be passed down to future generations as an heirloom piece? I don't want something too large.....simply a standard size with multiple compartments, drawers, lock, etc. and I prefer wood over leather. Also, price is not an issue. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

If price is not an issue, you can get David Linley, the London bespoke furniture & accessories designer, to design a customized jewelry box for you.

His one-of-a-kind jewelry boxes are very beautiful and collectors items on their own (edited to add - expect to pay at least USD 10,000 for a specially designed jewelry box.)

Sounds wonderful!

I have a few that are made by wood carving artists. Bought at the huge Art Fairs & Santa Fe. Those go into the house safe.

Leah, when you get tired of that lovely bracelet, let me know. I'll save you the auction house fees. lol

:D lol, VLL, I will keep that in mind although I don't think I ever want to be up against you at auction, I bet you drive a hard bargain :coolio:

Love to sit by the jewelry & antique store owners & listen to their conversation about the items. They have to make a profit on what they buy so they are easy to outbid. That's when I know we got a good deal.
Its the people who let emotions take over & have to win. Holy Moly, never want to get involved in that.

I don't know if this would be suitable for you, but I know that Cartier has really beautiful limited edition jewellery boxes. They are quite rare though and probably something that you'd have to go to a store to look at. I saw a really beautiful art deco styled one at the Cartier boutique in Sydney a year or so ago. Stunning, but I couldn't possibly afford it (not to mention it wouldn't really go with the rest of my furniture lol).

I'm currently looking at one by Smythson, not sure if that is your style...

It's so hard to find nice jewelry boxes these days!
I have one that my parents brought back from Okinawa. It's about 2 feet tall and made out of rosewood.

Further to my above post, actually I found the Cartier jewellery boxes on their US website in the home collections section - I really like the Panther Decor jewellery box, it's listed at $5,300.00US though, so not for the faint-hearted! :p

It depends on your price range.

My mother's box is the Agresti Caprice. Which is right in the $995 range. Here's something similar to hers:

It's sold at Neimans and Horchow.

Smythson boxes are usually leather, and always stunning. They tend to be in the 2K price range.

Several of my friends have this box, and love it.

There is also the LV Monte Carlo ($900) which is more of a travel case, or the Jewelry Case from LV (7K) on their web site.
A custom case from Goyard would be fabulous.
But again - all of these are not wood.

The Cartier boxes are divine.
