MURIER - Fading Issues?

Hello all, I'm a recent Bal convert, just got a Black RRGH Day from a lovely TPF'r last month and LOVE IT! I'm eyeing my next purchase - either a City or a Town, and the color that appeals most to me is Murier! I love the Berry colors!

There are a couple of Cities I've seen available in near mint condition, but I'm hesitating. What I'm most concerned about is the fading issues with the Purple Bals I've read about at this Forum; Lilacs fading or turning brown in some cases, Raisins getting patchy...

I'd rotate it with my other bags, but I definitely don't want to have to baby it too much. Otherwise I might look for a darker more saturated bag, like Black Cherry, Dark Violet or Pourpre (I like the purples/reds and Murier is right in between,ha!) Maybe wait for 2012 Crocus or Cassis

Can any Murier owners out there tell me how their bag is wearing and how often you use it? Any suggestions on conditioning to prevent fading on this color? Thanks in advance!!

The Murier RH City I recently saw IRL was faded on the side and bottom panels. They didn't match the front and back of the bag. I made a mental note at the time to stay away from this color even though I love it!

This is my Murier town after about 1.5 years. And it is my go-to travel bag, I don't really baby this bag, and I've brought it for concerts in a very muddy park (it rained the whole time to my dismay! But to be fair I protected it with my raincoat) and all sorts of sunny weather.

It has faded a little but less than what I've expected. Around 2/3s of the year into using the bag I treated it with LH and Apple Guarde as well. (my paranoia reigns with bal leather!)

I have 4 month old Murier Strategy. I have been using it quite a lot and has been subjected to "travelling abuse". She's holding up pretty well and has gone smooshy and although still early days, I have not noticed any change in colour so far. Murier is such a versatile colour, not to light nor dark, imo. Happy hunting!

I have a murier city with RGGH and i am completely in love with it. It is a year and a half old. I rotate my bags and when I am using murier, definitely use it as my everyday bag. I have not noticed any color changes. The leather has gotten smoother w time, color is still beautiful...

Thanks for your opinion MAGJES! I was bidding on a used one on EBAY but let it go not being sure I would be Ok with it. The fading was even but especially noticeable when you compared it to the tag and mirror. I'm wondering if the one you saw was a new bag or used?

That is a beautiful town...looks so versatile too! I think I will have to get a city and a town now!Haha your description gives me hope on how hardy the leather is. Did any of the color rub off on the cloths when you applied LH and Apple Guarde? Thanks for the recommendation on the care products

Thanks for the input gagabag, I agree it is a sorta perfect shade that isn't too loud but still nicely saturated, I'm such a sucker for red purple. Glad to hear yours is holding up well!

Oh my I covet that RGGH on your Murier! I had a chance to snag a part time in that combo but that size bag would look too big on me

The city Im looking to buy has RH but looking at yours makes me wonder if I should hold out for a RGGH......or wait and see if I like 2012 Crocus or Cassis with mRGGh! Decisions, decisions....very interesting to hear the leather it has gotten smoother on your bag with time...thanks for your input!

Murier with RGGH is SO pretty, I remember seeing it and went wooooah. But at that point of time I couldn't justify paying that extra few hundred! Of course NOW's a different story.....

I can't remember if the color came off on the sponge. But I am VERY particular, so if it was bad, I would have stopped completely. Heh. But I've used LH on all my bags now..

I hope u find one!! I say go for the city first

Hmmm tough decision! I do love the giant hardware. I think cassis looks like a lovely color, will probably be so gorg with the new mini rose gold hardware. I like the rh too. But if you think that in getting the rh, you will always be thinking about the rose gold, then I'd hold out. I think city is the way to go. hth

I have a rh murier velo and haven't noticed any fading, I love the color. I switch out my bags quite a bit but have used it a fair amount over the last year. I love the Bal purples, I'll always stick with them even with their issues!!
