Hi lovely ladies,

I’d like to buy my first Van Cleef necklace. Iove both mop and chalcedony in white gold. I’ve read that mop is very delicate. What do you think? I’d love to wear it (almost) everyday. Chalcedony is so beautiful too,but is it versatile like the mop? I’m not sure…

I’m gonna try them soon in real life.

MOP make more sense for pendant, it's delicate but since it'll be on your neck so it'll be less prone to damages. I prefer chalcedony for 5 motif, it's such a beautiful and interesting stone that you can't help but want to stare at it all day long hahaha...at least that's the case for me. Chalcedony is really versatile imo, it looks nothing like what the stock photos on the website, in person it's like a soft lavender and because it's quite translucent, the color changes slightly depend on the color clothing you're wearing. But if you want a pendant that will go with every colorway, MOP is more neutral. Neither you can wear in the shower though.

I thought chalcedony is more hardy and can touch water though?

MoP is defi the more versatile piece, try them at the store and you will be able to decide better

Ah i see, i dont shower with my jewellery, unless its diamonds and gold only but even so its rare.. haha

I do wash my chalcedony occassionally to keep it clean, with gentle soap

Thank you so much! I agree: for a 5 motif I would choose a stronger stone (I’m in love with carnelian).
