Would you prefer having a costume jewelry one or the real thing? Jennifer Zeuner has the swirly pendants in two sizes in either sterling or gold-plated for around $200. In my area, a jeweler does the real 14 ct initials surrounded by a circle of pave diamonds for $950 plus tax. The fake one is quite large and the real one is slightly bigger than a quarter. Which would you prefer?

i got a diamond initial, 14k white gold, w about .11 ctw of diamonds, from maurice badler in nyc for like $400 or so. u cna find the real deal for less then $900!

gabz - I just looked up Maurice Badler and I think you might be talking about a single initial in diamonds. I'm speaking about a 3-letter monogram surrounded by a circle of pave diamonds. Please let me know if I could get my "piece" for $400 at the store you mentioned. Thanks!

gabz - It is beautiful but I'm looking for a 3 letter pendant. So maybe $950 isn't ridiculous cause gold is so high right now. I just don't know if I should buy costume or real.

I would go for the 'real deal' - at the end of the day, I just don't 'appreciate' costume jewelry and it can be quite expensive. I'd put my money towards the 14kt one with diamonds around. Cathy Waterman does a really cool initial pendant.

I couldn't agree with you more - "Bagaday" - I just needed to hear it from someone else. Unfortunately, I cannot afford the "real deal" right now. If I sign my new teaching contract for next year, I will treat myself. But if I retire, then I won't be getting this necklace. One thing for sure - no costume pendant as I know I will regret it in 6 months!

^^^ Good choice I think Hokaplan, I just think costume jewellery tends to lose its shine after the initial honeymoon period. The real deal will be gorgeous forever.
