Hi again -- I have yet ANOTHER question re: monogram mat, esp. in the black color. I have never seen it IRL and I was wondering how distinct and "obvious" the monogram pattern is. For example, would you describe mono mat black as having a very evident pattern, something that is instantly recognizable as LV, like from across the room, or is it more discreet, where perhaps you don't even notice that classic LV pattern until you get closer to the object and look at it closely?

The reason I ask is that I am considering getting a mono mat black agenda, and I would want to use it at work sometimes. I work in a pretty casual office, and I don't want to appear ostentatious or anything by whipping out expensive designer accessories at a meeting.

I don't own any classic mongram pieces, mostly because they do strike me as too "obvious," too loudly expensive. (No offense meant to mono canvas lovers! I adore some of the classic monogram items, don't get me wrong, but I just can't bring myself to purchase anything and carry it around!) I have only damier and epi pieces, because I know a lot of people don't even recognize them as being LV. I just find them more discreet and low-key.

SO, having said all that, I have to say that seeing photos of some PFers' mono mat pieces have really turned me on to the line! It's the first time I've been attracted to any version of the classic LV mongram. I thought an agenda or perhaps a wallet might be a good small piece to whet my appetite for it, but I am curious about how "showy" the pattern is. Any insight from those who own it or have seen it IRL would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

it's really pretty subdued since it's just embossed into the matte leather. If someone is standing next to you, then they will be able to tell that it's LV, but not across a room. =) Why don't you go check it out for yourself in a boutique? Word is that the mat line is going to be discontinued so there is not much left...get what you can before you regret it! =)

Thanks so much for your reply. Unfortunately I can't check it out in person at the moment; I am in New Orleans and the Saks LV store, which is the only one we had, is still closed due to Hurricane Katrina. I do have a few trips lined up soon; hopefully I'll be able to stop in to a boutique!
