Hi all, I posted this in the clubhouse thread but thought I might get more eyeballs if I posted it separately as well.

I have a question about the mini lambskin lady Dior - I found one in my dream colour at a reputable preloved website in absolute exquisite condition (the plastic is still on the hardware!) it’s an older piece though, because the strap doesn’t have the chain detail like the mini now does.

Does anyone know when Dior started producing the mini with the chain strap? And do all minis now come with chain strap or do they do the leather one occasionally still as well?

I don't mind it being a purely leather strap because it was appropriately priced imo and I would rarely wear it with the strap anyway, but I am curious to know how old it is.

Also - if I take good care of it, and assuming it was properly stored till now, does it matter if it's an old piece? In terms of leather condition etc? How long can I realistically expect the leather to remain in good condition, assuming I take care of it?

I've not been keeping track but I believe Dior only started producing the mini lady Dior around the time that mini bags became very popular (around 2019 or so?) so the bag you're looking at shouldn't be more than 5-6 years old. I've lambskin lady Diors which are 8-10 years old which are still in very good condition (still look pretty much the same as when I first bought them). That said, one potential issue is that the leather over time might show some lines due to dryness (I had this issue with one bag, albeit it's not that noticeable). So definitely there are "risks" with purchasing an old piece, I guess it comes down to whether the price makes sense.

Oh it’s definitely been produced for longer than 2019, I think at least 2014 or so or maybe even earlier… I saw some posts on this sub forum when I was stalking :D but I couldn’t really pin down exactly when the switch happened from leather strap to chain strap. I suppose once the bag gets here I’ll be able to confirm that with the date code and the authenticity card. I hope it’s not more that ~10 years old though!

The price was excellent without being suspiciously good, which is why I jumped for it!
