Hi everyone! One of my wishlist items has been a black Mini Kelly in box. Recently, a friend of mine said she was letting hers go, it’s a very gently used Mini Kelly black in chèvre leather. I’m totally conflicted. I can get a pretty good deal purchasing through a friend but am I going to regret not holding out for box? I know the pros and cons, chèvre is a bit more casual can go from day to night, Box scratches more easily but will patina over time. I like the “shiny” luxe look of Box but do plan to use during the day. Will I get that a bit with Chèvre? What would you do? Any other pros and cons that I haven’t thought of or comparison photos would be so appreciated. I need to make up my mind asap. Thank you so much!!

you have no idea how long you might have to wait for box
if you buy the one in chèvre now, you will have the immediate pleasure of using it
but should a chance to get one in box present itself sometime in the future, do you think there will be a good chance of resale?

I actually love chèvre but not in black. I prefer box in black and chèvre in color ❤️
I think box is more beautiful than chevre especially in black. Personally, I would hold out for box if that is what you originally wanted
I have Box in noir, it is GORGEOUS, but honestly wish it were chèvre. I'm always worried about fingernail scratches and feel it's a bit more formal; my other MKs are also formal-ish, so I would love my Noir to be chèvre. But this is a champagne problem of the highest order.
I'm a fan of Box, so that would be my choice & well worth the wait, JMO
I’m probably no help. I love box but have let go of two box bags because they were too finicky for my taste. Chèvre has been calling my name lately. It feels so modern and resilient and in the mini kelly it gives enough pliability for a rugged casual use. I don’t see the box paring down to rugged as well IYKWIM. If anything get the chèvre since you don’t know when the box will appear.
I’d wait for box since it sounds like it’s your preference.
I personally loveeee the look of box and am not a fan of the way chèvre looks* so for me, box would be a no-brainer 😊
(*I don’t like the way modern-day chèvre bags don’t hold their shape as well as other leather options and chèvre also kind of creeps me out because to me, it looks like human skin that needs to be moisturized lol)

I adore box but I would vote for chevre. I find opening the flap much more stiff on box than chevre, which I find to be an annoying trait of box with the Kelly model. In a mini Kelly it might be tricky to get in and out of since it's so small. Chevre also has a beautiful sheen in a different way.
