It is just my current preference. It looks more modern to me than black with gold hardware, but if you like gold hardware better you should choose that option.Why palladium?

But to be serious - this is a personal choice and my guess is that if you polled everyone here you’d get a 50/50 split.
Box vs epsom are totally different looks and leathers. Again. Personal choice. Box is quite a bit more expensive, I don’t know if that’s a consideration.

I have black box with palladium and love it.
Black w/ palladium and black w/ gold is just a taste thing. You can't say one is inherently better. For me palladium is more modern, gold more classic, but with a slight old-school vibe.
Box vs. Epsom...yeah that's a minefield
I am not on Team Epsom, so certainly not choosing it over Box - but can understand why someone might, in this particular bag. (I will never understand why anyone would choose an MK in Epsom over one in Chèvre, though.)
