Hi! I currently have two Celine’s I adore - the small Celine 16 and triomphe on chain (both in black).

I’m having my first baby very soon and would like to purchase an elevated mom bag. I loveeee the belt bag, and am considering the mini as an elevated mom bag. Is this a practical decision? Would the belt bag make a good mom bag? I know the belt bags are pretty durable but are they baby-durable?

As an aside, I’m also considering the LV speedy B 30 (posted something similar in LV clubhouse), but I love how understated the belt bag is.

An "elevated" mom bag is a bit of an oxymoron. If you'd like a bag to wear when you're with your baby, meaning you'll need to have baby-related items with you, the LV speedy 30 (or larger) is a great choice. It's a smart, light weight and classic choice. If, instead, you're looking for an elevated bag to wear after your baby is born, and are not trying to have it hold baby-related items, the Mini Belt bag is a wonderful, chic and hands-free choice when worn crossbody. As I'm writing this, it seems to me that you could use both of these bags -- one for you and one for your baby!

Thank you! I was originally thinking something for baby & me - in which case you’re totally right that the LV speedy b would be better… but I love the idea of both! The Celine is so beautiful and both will probably eventually end up in my collection!

I own a Light Taupe Mini Belt Bag, and think a Speedy Bandouliere 30 would be the better option. As gorgeous as the Belt bag is, opening/closing can be fiddly, and the strap is not long enough for crossbody wear. It is very chic, but probably better for outings without your baby.

I think the Speedy would be an excellent option, especially if you get a bag insert to keep the contents organized.

Good luck with your decision - they are both great bags!

Thank you! This is super helpful. It looks like it’ll be the speedy this time around! maybe I’ll get Belt Bag in a smaller size later down the road for non-baby outings!

Glad to help! FYI, I'm always concerned Hedi Slimane will discontinue Phoebe Philo era designs, so it may be a good idea to keep checking the status of the Belt Bag if you prefer to buy new.

BTW - Congratulations on your impending arrival!

I love the Celine Belt Bag and actually owned the Mini version myself. Tbh the few times I carried it when my kiddo was young I felt it was so inconvenient. The closure is hard to quickly get in/out of and when left open, it hangs awkwardly from the strap. As a result I used my LV Neverfull a lot more (but more realistically a Longchamp) than the Belt bag. That said, it's a gorgeous bag for when baby is a bit older! (Also keeping in mind that the Belt bag isn't lined, I was always so paranoid about wipes leaking, bottle drips, etc inside the bag too).
