I've now entered my quinquagenarian years and would like to celebrate it (a gift from my husband) with a Cartier watch. The small gold panthere watch is on my wishlist. Actually, it was, until I saw that Cartier recently released the mini baignoire watch. The latter has been so popular upon launch that there is a long waitlist. My SA said since launch she has only seen one at the boutique. Has anyone seen the mini baignoire or tried one on? I am referring to the all gold bangle version. In the photo it is simply so chic that my first choice, the panthere, has taken a backseat.:confused1:

However, the gold panthere is also beautiful and has been on my wl for a reason. Without diamonds, gorgeous, with diamonds - beyond.

Which would you choose? Both are timeless and both make my heart sing (though I have not seen or tried on the mini baignoire - it could take months I hear).

Thanks in advance for your input!

Watches are very much a personal choice and they are both very different.
However, the silhouette of both watches I find to be timeless, classic and elegant.
I think the all gold baignoire is a very minimal and clean aesthetic. It’s not my aesthetic but I can see why others love it. While that watch is all the rage now, if it’s something you love then that’s all that matters.

I have a medium Panthere TT and have loved it the moment I got it and I have worn it everyday since.

Have you tried either on in stores with photos? I find that helps a lot.

The only concern/question I may have is the size of the baignoire. I believe you said it was a mini?
I have a feeling it may be very small and dainty. The mini Panthere is also very small as well. Were you also thinking about it in the mini size for the all gold Panthere?
As long as small and dainty is what you’re looking for, then I think you cannot go wrong with either of them!

Small panthere is what I would get. I did try them on at the boutique. The mini panthere is too small for me, I think soon enough I’d have a hard time reading the time, haha! So it would be the small.

True, not having seen the mini baignoire and how literally says mini just might be too small for me. You make a good point. I have small wrists and hands so it may work but knowing so little does give me pause whereas the panthere I know I’ve tried and loved.

I’m not one to follow trends and the ‘it’ items don’t give me ‘fomo’ as some would say :) Thanks for you input!

Baignoire is beautiful but if scratches bother you I see all those smooth gold surfaces and cringe. The panthère with the diamond bezel and link bracelet is also gorgeous and would be more carefree for frequent use (diamond bezels do not scratch and a link bracelet shows less wear)
Ahaha this is why I love this forum. When I feel like I’ve carefully gone over the pros and cons, someone like yourself mentions something and a lightbulb goes off! Why didn’t I think of that? :) It too would make me cringe a little! My husband pointed out also that the bangle doesn’t seem as comfortable to wear as the panthere strap.
Thanks for your suggestion!:)

He’s probably right, but who cares. The Baignoire is absolutely gorgeous and if you have the opportunity to get that I definitely think you would not regret it. It’s classic IMO and so beautiful.

Hi @Peonies813

I have the all gold version (YG) in the Panthere and the mini Baignoire with the leather strap. I did have a chance to try on the all gold bangle version (in my size – 15 ) while I was looking for my Baignoire.

Although the bangle version of the Baignoire is a very lovely piece, I prefer the all gold version of the small panthere (if I had to pick between the two style’s your considering).

The mini Balgnoire in the bangle version is very much a jewellery piece and like @sleepdoc. has mentioned, the smooth surface will be prone to scratches through normal wear. Also I managed to try on the size 15 (which would be my size) – I felt it didn’t sit properly on my wrist.

I just love the look of the Panthere (esp the small version), the face is so thin, it feels really nice on , wrapped around my wrist.

I have a friend who also have the small YG Panthere, and seeing it on her wrist, its just so elegant, classy and dainty. My friend wears it so well.

As a standalone piece, i would pick the small Panthere with diamonds in YG. The diamond version is more pleasing to eye IMO.

Please share with what you decide 😊

Thanks for such a thoughtful message. I've decided on the small panthere with diamonds. I feel that it sits far better on my wrist and the touch of diamonds adds subtle beauty and elegance. I would love to add the mini baignoire down the line though. But for now, the gold with diamonds has my heart. I feel solid in narrowing it down to the watch I love best but have a different dilemma that I need to consult on a different forum  I needed to solve this one first to tackle the next one!

I've had the same dilemma before purchasing my small panthere! The baignoire definitely caught my eye with its elegant design but the panthere was on my wishlist for the longest time so I decided to cross that off my list first without being sidetracked. I hope to get a Baignoire one day but in the leather strap, as it sits better on my wrist.

SO beautiful! I had a chance to try the bangle one today and it was as elegant as I thought it would be. However, since it was a bangle, it wasn't very comfortable on my wrist. Being that the bangle doesn't have a flat edge like the love bracelet, it felt a little wonky on me and didn't 'sit' well even though the size was perfect for my wrist. I also feel that the leather strap would be ideal. Thanks for chiming in, I've been going back and forth for a while but I'm glad to stick with what has been on my WL for some time.

Now that I've narrowed it down to the panthere watch, I need to make an absolute final decision -
I know that this isn't a Van Cleef forum but since Cartier is also involved in my dilemma:

Whether or not I should get the Panthere gold watch with diamonds or Van Cleef Frivole Pave BTF ring...
