I am thinking about purchasing the Minetta. Has anyone had the Minetta for awhile and could tell me the things you love and hate about the Minetta? I was wondering if it holds quite a bit. What can you fit in the center zip section? Thanks for your help:smile1:

I have two Minetta handbags -- red and black and I have ordered the Chestnut but it's not here yet --- really want the Peach Rose but can't find it anywhere and told by Coach they were not getting any more in. I LOVE THESE PURSES. They are a great size and I love all the pockets -- I can find these very quickly. You can't go wrong with this handbag.

I really love my Minetta. It holds a lot of stuff but the bag itself is pretty lightweight. My only complaint is that there are too many pockets! Sometimes I'm checking all of them to find stuff because I can't remember which one they're in!

I've had mine for about a month and a half now I think. I really like it. The center compartment is a perfect makeup case or for small items like I actually carry USB ports. It's definitely roomy for your smaller items like lipstick, credits cards, candy or gum that might kick around elsewhere. I think I've read some people throw their receipts there.

It fits quite a bit but it is an open purse so if you stuff it too full, you can't snap it shut. So you better be a light carrier or this is not the purse for you. I just had to carry around a bunch of legal papers and it was fine but I couldn't close it because the papers stuck up which always makes me nuts. I hate open purses. But that's not my normal day.

If you carry light like I normally do, you'll enjoy it. If you are in and out of your purse a lot, it may frustrate you because of the smaller size and as the other poster said, lots of pockets.

Still, it works for me. I think I've pulled out my Madeline once or twice since I put my Sadie away for the winter but I've been a straight Minetta girl for a solid month or more and I love her!

LauraTracy, do you have a small Sadie? Can you compare your thoughts on Minetta vs Sadie? I have both but I haven't used either one as I'm undecided. Plus my Minetta has a smiley face which is not coming out at all so I'm going to exchange or just return it….

Sure.

Sadie is a little bigger (wider) and it's a flap purse so it closes which I like a lot more than the Minetta. In fact, an open purse almost was a deal breaker for me with the Minetta. But I decided she just doesn't make the trip home to NYC with me.

Where I normally am in my daily life, an open purse doesn't matter so much and I keep my wallet all the way to the bottom plus always have the Minetta snapped close and it is a pretty secure fit. Still have to say it bothers me though. I'm just a city girl at heart.

Honestly, apart from that, they are pretty similar just a different configuration. Minetta has an open pocket on the front and is tall. Sadie has her's on the back and is, of course, wider. Both have about the same space but Sadie's an easier fit because you don't have the middle pocket compartment like the Minetta does. Sadie is one pure space not a bunch of smaller pockets to fill here and there although the Minetta's pockets are plenty roomy. Your stuff is just separated and that may be annoying for some people. It's annoyed me from time to time.

Who do I love more? Sadie because I find she is easier to use for the way I like to use a purse. Still, Minetta is a nice change up without being too radically different from my first love. I have used them the most since Christmas with Madeline being pulled out from time to time here and there.

To tag onto the Sadie comparison, one thing I found really annoying/why I sold my Sadie, was that it was a tight fit to get into the Sadie for me. I don't mind flaps normally, but they made the opening somewhat narrow for the Sadie. I found it difficult to get things in and out--having to open the flap and then navigate the narrow opening. The base was plenty large...I wish they would have made the top closer to that size. I thought the size of the bag was otherwise perfect, and I loved the outside pocket. I know many like the Sadie, but I saw some reviews that are similar to what I have described as well.

I now am very careful about this kind of thing... and sometimes I like open bags/zip bags I can leave open for that reason.

Thanks for your thoughts on these! I really like the way Sadie looks, and the little top handle is perfect for me--I like to wear a bag on my shoulder but be able to lift it easily with the handle, and the handle doesn't get in the way at all. But I was wondering about that tighter opening at the top, and if I'd have to use 2 hands to kind of pull the opening bigger to get inside? Also, I noticed I have to use 2 hands to open the back outside pocket--I don't know if that would become easier with use.

The Minetta seems so versatile but I'm unsure about the open top too--but so easy to get into. I like that the handles fold down flat (yay Coach!) but they are long so I can't just reach down and grab them with one hand. Minetta is also a bit lighter in weight which I appreciate with these narrow straps they both have.

Yes, for the Sadie I sometimes needed two hands to open the bag wider to put items back where they belonged/get them out. That is what made it so frustrating...I liked to carry it as a satchel most of the time, so it is difficult to use two hands when using it as a satchel. For those doing crossbody, I can see why that wouldn't be as much of an issue. The flap is a bit stiff on the Sadie versus other flap Coach bags I have.
