  1. Mindy Kaling Is Pregnant With Her First Child

Multiple sources tell E! News that the A Wrinkle in Time actress is currently pregnant with her first child.

An insider explained that the future arrival for the 38-year-old actress was "an unexpected surprise" but that there will not be any changes made to production schedules for her upcoming projects.

While little else is known at present time about Mindy's little one, years back she openly expressed wanting to have children.

I think I've decided that unlike everything else in my life, I'm going to be fast and loose about kids," she told Yahoo! Style in a sit-down interview.

"I'm going to not actively plan, but if it happens, it would happen."

She also admitted that she would love to have children, at the time, "maybe imminently."

She also shared some insight into who she would want to welcome children into the world with, saying, "I'm not cavalier about who I would have a kid with. But the thing I ask every parent that I really admire, the one comment they all have is that they wish they had kids earlier."

Kaling previously dated Benjamin Nugent from 2008-2012 and her Office co-star B.J. Novak from 2005-2007.

This is certainly a time of big change for the actress, as The Mindy Project's sixth and final season is slated to air on Hulu later this year.

In March, the former star of The Office talked to EW about the decision to end The Mindy Project: "I mean this half-jokingly, but at a certain point it was like, I think she's dated every man in Manhattan. Sex and the City lasted for, what, six seasons with 10 episodes each? I don't know that there's been a show about a woman trying to find love in New York City that has lasted quite this long. And frankly, there's no more actors in Hollywood left to date."

Hulu rescued The Mindy Project after Fox canceled it following its third season on the broadcast network.

A big congratulations to Mindy on the exciting pregnancy news!
  2. Congratulations to Mindy and her family!

  3. I'm so excited for her!

Sorry if I've told this story here before somewhere, but my Mom used to work overnight at the hospital with her mom, and they were good friends, so I always feel a special connection to her. Her mom died right before she got Mindy Project, but in that show, she played and OB/GYN, which was her mother's profession.

She will make a great mom, and I can't wait to find out who dad is!!!

  4. I bet the daddy is her friend BJ Novak! I love The Mindy Project and her books were so funny too! In her book she talked a lot about her special friendship/relationship with BJ Novak.
  5. I hope you're right! He went to my HS. But I have a feeling it's someone else.
  6. I'm just shocked that a brown girl got pregnant without being married and it is celebrated...yay for 2017! Love Mindy!
  7. Yes!!

  8. The only brown girls publicly demonized for being pregnant and not married are black and hispanic women. And they're still not being celebrated. Let's not get that twisted.

  9. I wonder if she's going to do a January Jones and not reveal who the dad is.
  10. Pakistanis, Indians, Sri Lankans, etc are pretty much always more than publicly demonized for being pregnant and not married (see: honor killings). I think that's what she meant... It's a HUGE cultural faux pas to say the least. Hell, "dating" just recently became accepted.

  11. Aren't celebrities exempt from the usual biases anyway? Having wealth and fame generally means you can do what you please more than an average, anonymous woman could without suffering any backlash from the decisions.
  12. Guess I should've stated the obvious that I'm making that comment with a very US-centric perspective given that Mindy is in the US. Pakistanis, Indians, Sri Lankans, etc are definitely not much always more publicly demonized for being pregnant and not married here...just look at who they're constantly talking about from a politics perspective even when there's more than enough evidence to show the contrary.

Mindy, like any other celeb who chooses to have a child without being married, is rich in any event so she'll be celebrated. Which is why the whole thing is comical to me. She's celebrated for her decision but the average woman not so much.

  13. To put the cultural aspect in perspective, until 2015 an unmarried Indian woman could not be the guardian of her own child unless she had permission from the father.

  14. Maybe because I come from a bigger community of East Indians (in Toronto... I know the US has it's pockets in certain states as well).. I know adults disowned by their parents for much less - like marrying someone that their parents didn't approve of.

But yeah, she's famous and rich and can do whatever she wants.
