This scarf is gorgeous -- I was willing to (and did) pay full price for it, but the sequins are just too scratchy for me. I'm also not thrilled about the 100% polyester tag on it -- I know Gingey asked Toni about it and she had an explanation, but labeling standards are really strict in the US and if it say's polyester, then the back of the scarf probably is. Here are some pics - sorry no modeling pics because I took a couple and they ended up looking horrible and my travel schedule has been too nuts to do anything lately;)

Sadly, I am returning this but it is beautiful and the sequins are nicely done and the length is good - not too long, but long enough to tie several ways.

I'd imagine the sequins would be uncomfortable... thanks for sharing the pics with us... sorry it didn't work out... and IF you used a groupon (even if not), I hope the return process will be pain free!

Yeah sequins and bare skin - not so much fun;)

I paid full price with my Amex so they'd better give me a quick refund or I'll dispute it with Amex;) I think I bought that before the Groupons started.

Ugh, I hate that they used sequins for this pattern. It's so beautiful, surely they could've used another material and gotten the desired effect.
I love the dress too but I wouldn't buy it simply because of the sequins. I had a sequin front shirt once and every time I tried it on I'd think, "Oh this is cute!" and five minutes later I'd be ripping it off of me because it would scratch the undersides of my arm.
Really too bad the scarf didn't work for you. =(

It's gorgeous! Just looking at it in an IRL pic it looks scratchy. They should have done those rounded beads or little fabric petals. I adore the pattern and the size looks perfect!

Thanks for the Pics and Review Suzzeee

IDK, I'm pleased with my scarf. It depends on how you tie it and as long as the fabric part is around my neck, I don't find it itchy. I usually have problems with things like that. To each her own I suppose. Just another opinion from someone who has worn scarves as long as she can remember.

Heavy is relative..it is heavier than scarves without sequins but it's not as heavy as a shetland wool muffler.

FWIW, if HH had put 100% silk on the content label, rather than 100% polyester, that too would have caused problems, wouldn't it. Truth be told, manufacturers usually list all fabric on content labels (ie..coats..shell, lining, fill)..so the right thing for HH to do would have been to phrase the label "outer charmeuse shell 100% silk, sequin backing 100% polyester" but that's the same semantic issue I've discussed with HH about the descriptions on the website.

If you recollect, the dimensions were not posted until I called Nitza to ask her exactly how long and how wide the "non-sample" Michelle was.

ITA lulu..beading would have been stunning, but the cost would have been prohibitive and the weight would have been much heavier.

Over and out.

I have sorta sensitive skin and I guess I didn't realize how scratchy sequins could be since I normally never buy anything with a lot of sequins on it. It has some weight to it, but it doesn't feel heavy around your neck. The scarf is fairly wide so no matter how I tied it, some of the sequins would be scratching me -- if I just let it hang loose so the backing was against my neck is was okay, but then with movement, there was some scratching -- just wasn't worth it -- I already have a few beautiful but uncomfortable items in my collection and of course I never or rarely wear them;)

On the labeling, they should have labeled it with what it actually was as most manufacturers do -- having silk on the label would have been advantageous to HH so I don't understand why they wouldn't have included that on the label if silk was involved - especially if it was the entire back of the scarf - it would have been very easy to accurately label the fabric. I'm thinking it's possible that your sample is indeed silk Gingey, but the production piece ended up being as labeled - 100% polyester. Honestly, I can't tell if the back is silk or poly -- it could be but it's not obvious that it is silk if it indeed is.

I've ordered the Ecrit in the smog so hope that works out better!

Suzzeee..I usually wear my scarf draped on the outside of my jacket, or on top of a turtle neck or under the lapels..I can see how the sequins would be scratchy since I also have redhead skin and dermatographia too..I understand what you are describing as far as the itchies..I only wore it about 4 times since I got the replacement, and once on "naked neck" with no trouble but who knows...so I will be uber careful.

FWIW...my sample had no content listed..and the replacement has a label that specifies 100% polyester. ITA with you. Unless I pull a thread and do a "burn" test, I won't know if the charmeuse backing is silk or polyester..and I don't get why HH didn't specify the fabric content on the label..especially since the website lists it as 100% silk. That's why I called. Yet another example of issues I have with phrasing on the website..among many.

Plus..I can't return mine even if I wanted to...sample..final sale..etc etc.

I can't wait to see the new scarf, Suz! Sounds like a winner. Michelle looks pretty, but I'm w. everyone on the itchy factor, esp when I handle babes ll day--don't want them getting scratched!
