Michael Kors MICHAEL's MOTHER the 'JOAN SATCHEL' with HAMILTON LOCK and KEY!

Many of you may be familiar with this bag, but want to put this on our Michael Kors forum for documentation, history and nastalgia of a very special bag,
the MK JOAN SATCHEL, that was designed special by Michael Kors for his Mother, Joan.

I think many of you Hamilton lovers will appreciate this bag because it has the MK Signature LOCK and KEY on it and it is not just decorative, it actually locks the bag!.

You can either put the lock on the side and lock the whole main compartment by attaching the zipper hole to the loop on the side and hooking the lock through them, thus locking the whole bag itself, ORrrr, you can lock the front compartment the same way. This is a really nice feature for keeping your money locked away from those sneaky little rascals that are always helping themselves! lol! I put some picks so you can see how it locks. Can you see how the front pocket zipper is square and fit over the metal piece that are on both the front and side of the bag? Pretty neat! Don't you think? One of MKs best designs! Of coiirse because if's for his Mom!

Hi CD, Not sure. what year. Thinking the early 90's. Man, I had a tough one last nigh on he authenticity thread, Have you been there yet?

Yes. I posted on it. I'm somewhat confused about that bag as well. I got confused with the different links to different bags.

Aside from the listings, the bag in te OPs pics did not have a date code on the tag underneath where it says Vietnam. There should be a letter with a dash and four numbers. . Also the stitching was way to sloppy. I figured out which listing was the one he purchased it from and she did mot send OP the same bag in the listing! Seller's interior was white, and also had a fake design on it. Did you notice it is that hour glass design we see on many fakes?? If you enlarge the pic with the cream colored lining ( was taken from the correct listing) you will see it does not have the usual honeycomp signature, but instead is shaped like what I call an hour glass print, that Jojo and I have seen on many fakes. Michael Kors does not have that type of hour glass print. I was really missing you last night!! lol!

Did you notice this Joan bag has the white contrast stitching on it?? I get so tired of all the claims that MK does not use contrast stitching on their bags. That is such hogwash.

Yup this was my first Michael Kors bag. I had it in croc embossed peanut with silver h/w. Wish I still had it.

Yes, MK does make bags with contrast stitching. It's especially evident on older bags & those that are his original designs. I don't know why people think he doesn't do contrast stitching. I guess it's because the majority of newer, popular styles tend to be monochromatic.

Yes, it is a collectible bag now and sought after by many serious collectors. The collector bags hold their value very well and make really good family heirlooms for your daughters! These collectables are actually an investment!
