Hi!

I just purchased the Susannah large tote, & was hoping to find the matching wallet-i see a lot of "snakeskin" Susannah wallets, but i'm looking for the same leather as the bag-does this even exist, lol? I messaged a few Seller's on Ebay of what i thought would be the matching wallet, but they say it's "shiny" or "really shiny" but NOT snakeskin....so i'm getting confused, maybe a matching wallet was never released?

Are you looking for what is called the 'quilted leather' ??? I have always seen the Suzanna in quilted leather, not snake?? I think you may be wanting a QUILTED leather wallet??

Yes-you're right, i'm looking for the quilted Susannah wallet-but there are so many "snakeskin" or "embossed" ones' on Ebay, only 1 or 2 of the regular leather quilting, that the Seller's insist are "shiny", which makes me nervous about purchasing. My Susannah tote isn't shiny, at least to me...

I do think the newest Susannah quilted leather has less of a shine than the one I have. I'm not sure how old mine was but I got on sale this year. Mine was red and there was a black, they definitely appear much shiner than the new one. Is yours one of the most recent ones?

There also seems to be older susannah bags that are less shiney than mine, they seem to sell with the older style dust bag. I think my one was from last year, it had the new style dust bag.

This wallet would match my bag, definitely a shine to it. I don't think this would match other red susannah bags I have seen as they seem duller.

Thanks everyone, for your replies. I just purchased my Susannah large tote from Macy's yesterday (in store, & it's black). It has the newer MK dust bag, i definitely wouldn't consider it to be shiny, so i better stay away from the wallets on Ebay, it definitely sounds like the 2 finishes won't match. I had picked up a black MK Hamilton quilted wallet, & the finish matches the Susannah bag perfectly, but i liked the Susannah wallet logo a little better. Better safe than sorry :)

I think that you could have ended up with a Susannah wallet that didn't match. The quilted Hamilton wallets that I have seen are definitely a better match the the newest Susannah! Congrats on a lovely bag by the way!

Most of the python or snake embossed bags do have a shine to them. Many think it is is patent leather, when really, it is not. It is just a protective coating they use for the embossing. Most of the quilted leather bags are made of lamb leather and don't the shine, because they are not embossed. I am fairly certain if you buy a quilted leather wallet it won't have any shine on it. It is not glazed like the snake bags are.

That's what made me really nervous about the 2 Seller's on Ebay that i did message about the quilted Susannah wallet-they insisted they were "very shiny", but they also both said they were not the snakeskin/embossed style, either.

I checked out Dillard's, & the description for the Susannah quilted wallet there reads "costa lamb", which sounds more like the Susannah bag i purchased. Since the Susannah bags seem to have been released over a pretty decent period of time, they could have changed the leather, or it could just be different. If they had the gold logo at Dillard's, i definitely would be buying/trying it, but just silver for now. Maybe in the near future :)

They came out with a crinkled patent Susannah last fall/winter.

It wasn't! They made it in black with SHW, and I really wanted that after getting my black with GHW, but it was so unattractive, couldn't bring myself to do it. They made some cinched top bags in, it, too. 😝
