I am looking at the bags still available at 1/3 on NM and all Michael Kors are still available. I also noticed that MK is not very popular on TPF neither.

Honestly, I have one MK of 1200$ and I am very disappointed. Compared to other designers bags at the same price, MK bags are cheap. Thats bad to say but its so true. Mine is a nice chocolate brown leather satchel but its not worth 1200$. Leather color and quality are very irregular, bag scratches easily and design is very plain. I got that bag for 450$ so its not that bad but I would never pay 1K for those ones. I think his MMK line is probably helping his business.

What do you think?

I would not pay that much for Michael Kors. I'm sorry that happen to you. Some of his bags are fine but you can find them at Marshalls or TJ Maxx for about $200.00 and that is about what they are worth for kick around bags. Nordies has them on sale alot too..

ITA

For that money, I'd buy a Balenciaga.............

I've had a few from the Michael by Michael Kors line and I did like those bags. I carried the Brookville shopper for months, used it like a diaper bag and work tote combined, didn't really take care of it or handle it with care, and it still looked brand new when I finally put it away.

Sorry you had a bad experience with his more expensive line. I'd be disappointed too.

I bought an MK this summer and sent it back a week later. Once it arrived I spent time looking at it closely I realized:

1) it really wasn't a bag I really actually liked that much in person
2) it was an impulse buy because it was on sale so cheap
3) it was not made of the best materials (relatively speaking to comparable bags)

During the Nordies Anniversary Sale I bought an MK watch online. It is going back as well. It looked pretty in the picture, but in person the bracelet looks like a cheap piece of junk. Definitely not worth the $$ I paid for it.

Two strikes for me with MK. I won't bother looking at their stuff again.

I have two $1200+ Michael Kors bags (the Rehearsal Tote style in black and gold), and am very happy with both of them. I have banged the black one around repeatedly during the 6 months I've had it, and it still looks like I just bought it. The gold one requires a bit more care, but the leather is so soft and plush, I hug it constantly. I love my bags, and am very sorry that you don't feel the same way.

I would like to add that I did not pay full price for either bag, but I loved my black bag so much that when I saw the gold one on sale (at a higher price than I paid for the black one), I did not hesitate to pick it up. I very rarely buy things full price, but if I had the means to do so, I am quite sure I would pay full price for my two bags.

I have a bag that I bought at the outlet and it seems quite nicely made. I haven't used it yet as it is a black leather bag more for fall and winter. I have not seen mine at tj maxx though. The ones they have there are to heavy for me.

I have one that I purchased full price at about $400.00. It is a good knock around bag even though I don't carry her much, but when I do, she is a good work horse and I loved her when I bought her and still do. It's just that I have so many more bags now.

I have sort of taken a step up in my handbags since purchasing this one so I really am not looking for another MK, however, I am still happy with her when she is out and about with me.

I really like your bag... My critic is not really against MMK but more of his more expensive line. mlisaac, I am happy you gave different feedback, this rehearsal bag is my favorite but was not on sale when I bought mine (I have the chain model).

He's on Project Runway, silly, not America's Next Top Model.

The SHOES are awesome, though... Just fyi. Not the MMK ones (made in china) but the real "Michael Kors" ones (made in italy). AWESOME fit and comfort.

Is it bad that I never even knew Michael Kors was a designer until he appeared on America's next top model. I dont fancy much of his stuff.

Michael Kors has been around for a long time- he used to design for Celine as well in the late 90's.

As far as simplicity goes, I don't think you can knock MK for making a simple bag at a high pricepoint- it's his asthetic, and everyone from Balenciaga to Hermes also makes very simple but very expensive bags. It's also worth noting that there is significant diference between the full-price Michael Kors and the diffusion Michael Michael Kors lines.

I guess it would depend on personal preference. I am not a big fan of his bags either, but his prices seem kind of high in comparison to other designers. If you don't love it, you can always resell.

I am not a big fan of the MK bags either, but I do like the shoes and have some fabulous high wedges!

I do have a couple Michael Michael Kors...a slouchy, crinkly black patent hobo and a silver pochette with studs around the edges...great to throw in a bag and easy to spot b/c it's silver!

I wouldn't pay $1200 for a MK bag but then again I haven't paid that much for any bag. I think there are some nice bags in both the higher end Michael Kors bags and the more affordable Michael by Michael Kors. The bags that you see at places like TJ Maxx for $200 are the Michael by Michael. It is very rare that you would see one of the $1,000+ bags for that price. I saw one post by someone on the PF that got one for $300 but I've never seen one and I've looked. I did return one of his "collection" bags because I realized that he made one in the more affordable line that was almost identical and it bothered me. So I will probably stick to his lower priced bags unless someday I find one of the "collection" bags that's truly a steal and that he doesn't duplicate in the M by MK line.
