I don't love them as much as I used to. They, like other designers have resorted to making their bags either super small/micro or very large. I used to like the Small Jet Set Travel Tote. Now it only comes in Mini (waaaay too small) or Medium which is actually huge. It is often difficult to distinguish their made for outlet bags from their boutique bags. Lately the boutique prices have been marked down crazy low (sub-$100) which indicates these bags are just not selling. The last boutique bag I got was so poor quality and looked nothing like the color portrayed, I could not return it fast enough

Here are my suggestions:

  1. Produce true size small/medium bags again
  2. Leave MK logo bags as outlet only bags
  3. Start including dustbags again instead of charging $5 extra. Don't include dustbags for outlet bags
  4. Make bags in more colors. They recylce the same 5 colors over and over

Anyone agree that they have gone down hill? If so, what would your suggestions be?

MK is not the only brand that isn't like it used to be! You should see all of the complaints about the newer LV bags these days! It seems to be a sign of the times. Quality with these companies, doesn't seem as important as it used to be. It's all about mass production and outsourcing these days, which is exactly why many of us search for the earlier models, even vintage bags, because they were much better made.

Covid only made things even worse with so many companies trying to catch up from what they lost during the shut downs, getting stuck with stock they couldn't sell. Most suffered huge losses that they are still trying to recover from. I say let's give everyone some time to get back on track and enjoy what we have for now, or perhaps find a used high quality treasure from the past on the resale sites. Just be sure to pick a site with a good reputation. There are many good recommendations right here on the TPF.

I think his collection bags were so nice, Skorpios, Tonne, etc. They are cheap on TRR. I haven't seen any of his recent bags though.
The only suggestion I have is to get rid of the logos, the collection bags were so much more subtle.

and the collection bags had better leather and better overall quality...although there was one time I returned a collection bag to Nordies because they had pretty much the identical bag in the Michael by MK line

this subforum seems to by dying
The issue is at one time it felt like MK/Coach were the “contemporary” options whereas in the last maybe 10 years the mid range sector has exploded with brands such as Polène.

MK no longer offered the same value / quality and people have since moved on.

So it’s not just the sub forum… Circa 2010 it felt like nearly every woman on the street was carrying an MK bag whereas now they are actually very rare.

I liked MK for a short time and now i wouldn’t be caught dead with one. The quality freaking sucks now. Yes, I know that the quality has gone down with all brands but my experience with MK has been the worst.

as @Shelby33 said, the preowned MK Collection bags are at a totally different level and you can get them for a good price these days

Absolutely this is a good time to scout for vintage MK bags. I sold them when they first came out and was obsessed with the Aster, but couldn't afford one. I just found this studded MK hobo on Ebay for $35 and am beyond thrilled! The leather is so thick and luxurious. Everyone is hunting for vintage Coach, but there are a lot of other less pricey pre-loved bags to be found.

I agree. I have a MK Black Studded Calf Hair Hamilton that I paid $600 for and after using it about a month, the feet on the silver on the feet of the bottom are chipping or something and turning a copper color. I've heard this happens often lately with MK. Wish I would have known that before I bought this bag. Oh vey
