I came across some Michael by Michael Kors knit acrylic winter scarves that retail for about $125. I need something like this at the moment to wear with wool coats and puffer jackets. I'm worried, however, whether the acrylic will shed lots of lint onto my coats and whether it will hold up in the wash. I don't like to take knits to the drycleaners because they're usually very delicate and I'm afraid that the drycleaners won't be as careful with them as I at least try to be. Has anybody had any experience with these scarves? Your responses are greatly appreciated.

Hi there! I don't have any MK scarves but I did some research and wow! They are NICE! They better be for that kind of money , right? lol! One I saw even hand hand pockets on the ends to slip your hands in to keep warm. What a nice feature. In my search, and I even saw a you tube video, there was nothing mentioned about any kind of shedding. Hand washing was recommended. I was looking at the acrylic scarves and I really doubt they would shed onto your coat. That sounds like something a cheapo scarf would do. I can't imagine a quality scarf of that caliber, shedding on anything.

I personally would feel safe buying one. They look really nice, with buttons on them and so much detail and very well crafted. I say go for it! But don't kill me if it sheds! lol!! That 's why I always keep those sticky rollers handy. You never know, but I really doubt it. Good luck!

Thanks for responding :-) I'm going to think about it some more and perhaps wait for a better price. This particular one is a sort of knit woven pattern. With regards to price and quality, I always like to go for high quality but these days there isn't always a positive correlation between price and quality. I'm sure that everybody has experienced this at some point. These scarves are very nice though, so I will definitely be thinking about this some more. I have a coat that I have to send to the dry cleaners, so I might wear it to the store and walk around with the scarf on it for a bit just to see what happens. If it pills, I will be cleaning the coat anyway.

I ended up picking up the scarf in a dark grey color. It is wonderful. Very warm - a little bigger than most of my scarves. It retailed for $125, but I waited and ended up getting a better deal. When folded, it is almost the size of a sweater. I'm wondering whether I should store it with my scarves or sweaters at the end of the season? Most of my scarves are cotton/linen or silk.

I have a few huge blanket scarves. I store them with my heavyweight sweaters, cardi's and ponchos etc..(yes, I like wool, cashmere and cableknit ponchos LOL!!), my kids think they are super(hero)weird! I don't pull out the heavy scarves till it's heavy sweater time so I keep them together. I'm a little bit OCD when it comes to just mixing things up like that. Maybe I am as weird as my kids claim LOL!! Oh well.... enjoy your scarf!!
