I was on the train today and saw a woman with a brown and light beige logoed handbag. The signature pattern was solitary M's across the bag, so I knew it wasn't Michael Kors (MK) or Modern Creation Munich (MCM). After some Googling, I realized it was most likely a Mia K. Farrow handbag. I didn't realize she ventured out into handbags.

I was just curious, how do you purseforum members like her bags? Please keep everything civil and kind!!

Obviously she licensed her name.

Per a quick look at Amazon, these are $24-$50 bags that trade on (knock off) well-known designs. The low end of fast fashion, with corresponding materials and design and no doubt the kind of production conditions that it takes to make this stuff.

Interesting! Is it more financially sound to just license one's name to a product that may or may not be well received rather than trying to create your own line.

It's naive of me, but the thought of just licensing one's name never even occured to me. Thank you for sharing!

Well, it's certain that the actual person Mia Farrow didn't sit in her NYC atelier and come up with that design, lol, or any of the other equally derivative products. I'm just surprised that she went this far down market for a business deal, but dollars are dollars I guess.

I can't speak to quality, as there is no experience purchasing them as gifts on my part. I feel like some styles and the signature are trying to emulate Michael Kors as well.

That was my first thought. If I had seen one on the street I would have assumed it was a very bad MK replica, or at best a dupe (which I guess it still qualifies as whatever name is on the tag?).
