Melting your old gold into something new...have you done it?

I have a bunch of junk stuff I'm not using. (Yes, that IS my old wedding ring mount AND my new wishbone in there!..lol!) And I was wondering if anyone has taken their old stuff to a jeweler and had it made into something new?

Charm? Ring? Bracelet...anything?

There's a lady here in MO that does just this.

I was at the hospital a couple months ago and saw this womans ring. I commented on how pretty it was and she said a lady down the road made it for her. So cool!

I found the ladys website and saw a couple things she's made. Very nice. All I'm wanting is to have all this melted down and turned into a wide plain gold band like the one below. Possible? Not sure... I sent her an email with pics.

So, has anyone done this? Have any pics of your new creation!? Before and after?

No, but I have sold my old gold and made a decent profit on it! I'm sure she can make something amazing with what you have, it looks like there's quite a lot of gold there.

My mom gets her jewelry re-made all the time. Labour's cheap back home so it's a fraction of the cost of getting new jewelry! Any extra gold that they don't use they'll just melt it down to a nugget and give it back to her!

As long as the jeweler you deal with is good and honest, I don't see why not!

The best place to do this is Dubai, it's super cheap. My mom and her friends have been doing it for a long time. The next time you're on holiday just stop by and have it done.
