Hi TPFers,

I snatched this bag up as I found this was too good of a deal to pass up some time ago. However now I'm thinking if this bag is too much of a casual wear and don't look polished enough to weddings/nighttime events. I do tend to dress casually (tees and jeans/leggings) if I'm ever out (which is rarely the case these days) and I also have a mini rectangle GHW lambskin.

Will be super duper grateful for your thoughts and hope you all stay safe!

I think it’s a versatile bag and can be used for both a casual and a formal setting! It’s a classic Chanel bag after all. It’s the color that’s making it look more casual, but the style of the handbag makes it look formal.

It also depends on how formal these occasions are. If it’s like a semi formal occasion it would work. If it’s a wedding with a theme like garden party I can see it working. I’m not sure if it would work at a black tie event, but how often would you go to those? You would probably use a nice clutch for those occasions anyways. And in terms of casual wear I wear my blingy Chanel bags with my Old Navy outfit all the time for simple errands and such. Lol. I see the bag working both ways. Why don’t you just start using it casually and see how you feel about it? Do you feel like the color matches with the clothes you wear?

If you really don’t see it working with your wardrobe you can sell it to fund for something you want more.

Do you mind sharing how much you paid for it? It’s absolutely gorgeous!! Brown is a rare colour. I’m voting to keep!

If I were in your shoes, and I can find a replacement bag in the right colour and combination (like black shw/caviar/single flap) at the same price, then I would sell it. Always have a replacement ready before you sell especially if it is a style you love.

Good point, I do use clutches for formal occasions anyway! It does go with most of my clothes as I do tend to stick to neutral colors (whites, blacks, denims) but I do also have the occasional reds. But thanks for the input, would probably test the waters first and see how I like it.

Nice to hear someone else loves this color too, reminds me of why I got it in the first place  I got it for about USD 3k from a private seller. I've been trying to get a replacement bag in black caviar, but in general they do fare at least 30%-40% higher than those of limited colors. Other alternatives I'm looking at is to get the black CF in lambskin, but I'm not sure if the jump to a different material is worth the jump to a different color, plus I already have a mini in lambskin.

Thanks for the vote and input!

Did you end up keeping this bag @sagittariusjt ? :) I just snagged one that looks incrediblyyyy similar (a 10 series) and am figuring out whether to keep or return it (for different reasons on my part - it's missing the auth card and leaning forward a bit ). I actually love how well it works casually!

Good to hear how it's working out for you! I'm keeping it for now and will try to use it more frequently once this pandemic subsides in where I live.. I have a 9-5 job but I don't intend to use CF as everyday office bag, so I'll have to see how this works out during casual weekends. That said, if I'm able to find a a good deal in beige caviar shw/ghw, I'll probably upgrade this for that ;)

I think you should keep it. You don't really see that many brown classic flaps & it's is such versatile color, perfect for everyday.
You can always save up and buy the black CF in the future.

Thank you, I really hope it works for my lifestyle once I bring it out more often! Yes, at the rate Chanel is increasing their prices, I'm pretty sure I'll get my money back later on if I keep its condition well enough.
