for some reason i'm just not enjoying my oak bays...dont know if its the colour, style or just that i prefer my other bags, but she's stuck in the wardrobe and has hardly been used - i cant justify it (especially after spotting the beatrice tote).

does anyone know of a swap service (for a different colour?) or where is the best place to sell a bag? do genuine ones get a decent price? don't want to really do ebay as there's so many dodgy ones (new but without receipts!!???)

dont know what to do, am v confused.

You could try www.lovehandbags.com they do a re-sell service and also will do a part exchange. A few of the ladies here have used this service.

If you do decide to go down the ebay route (you will get the better value back for your bag this way) be careful not to advertise it on this forum as it's against the rules

If you've tried your best to love oak bays and it's just not happening i would sell it and buy something you do love, it's such a shame to have a gorgeous bag like that at the back of the wardrobe!

Sorry to hear you're not feeling the love, but are you sure you won't change your mind later on? Klp for one could no doubt tell of her initial doubts over Bays bags & now she adores them!

If you're really sure you won't change, I wouldn't be put off by Ebay - there are as many reputable sellers as dodgy ones & any prospective purchaser could always get things authenticated with us

I have bought a bag from lovehandbags, but have never sold to them, as the info I heard says that their markup is very high (they pay quite low amounts when you sell the bags to them, even if brand new).
I have been told that another site, www.alwaysauthentic.com, offers better prices.
Once again, I have never sold to any of those two sites and do not have any personal experience, but wanted to drop a remark - maybe worth checking, hope you get the best possible price.

(I have oak Bays, I guess it might need some time to fall in love with it...give yourself sufficient time before making a final decision.)

Thanks for that zaduzl. Just clicked on it there and saw the Rosemary Rio.
What a busy little bag.

Hi Laura, sorry to hear you're not loving your oak Bays. Is it the colour or the style that you don't get on with? If it's the style, well, you're not alone. I had a gorgeous choc Darwin Bays last autumn that I LOVED the look of, but just couldn't get the Bays style to work for me. I felt it was too elegant for a new mum who lives in jeans. So, I sold it. Then this past June I took a risk and bought a fuchsia Bays and I've never looked back. Bays is my style of choice now!

Did you buy your oak Bays brand new, or was it used? I ask because I personally find new oak leather to be rather boring - it's the well patina'd oak that I love. All my Bays have been pre-loved and this has worked for me, simply because I'm far too impatient to use a new bag enough to get that patina going - I'd rather someone else did all that work and worrying about marks, etc.

I hope this helps!

Hi Laura, I didn't love my oak bays either, I love bays just not oak - although I love the colour oak on a well patina'd bag, it petrifies me to use it to get it to that stage.

If you did go down lovehandbags route negotiate, don't accept their initial offer as it will be low.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

I'm sorry to hear you're not loving your Oak Bays. I find the love comes and goes for mine too but I know that this is because mine is really, really grainy and sometimes I just wish that it was nice and smooth. However, I know that the only way its going to get smooth is by using it!!

I hope that, if you can't find the love for it, that you can find a solution that suits you.
