Max Mara Teddy Coat with Strong Odor

I purchased a Teddy coat in Rome on holiday this weekend, and was really shocked at the odor of it after unpacking it in my hotel. It smells very strongly of hay and barn, my husband said I smelled like a petting zoo!

While it’s not the worst smell in the world, it is a little nauseating after wearing in a car for a drive or on the train.

Can anyone tell me if this is bizarre or normal?

Is this off-gassing of some kind? Or is the camel hair so pure it came straight off the floor of the animal’s stable? I love the coat, but wish to not smell like this.

Thank you! Yes, customer service said this can occur on a rainy day, even if it doesn’t get wet. It hasn’t happened since!

oh wow, hopefully the smell is gone by now! I saw a video of a woman who works in a theater costume dept. that they spray vodka on clothes to freshen it up and remove smell, might be a good idea if you tried it on a small spot to see if it works?

I would suggest the Beige. Only because for me white would make me nervous about getting it dirty. I also think the Beige is so beautiful. Good luck!!
