Hey all,
I don’t know if another thread exists of the same topic but I was wondering if you could suggest which bags I can match with Manolo Hangisi shoes in green? Also, I’m big on matching shoes with my bags, not particularly same designer but same color or finish. Do you do that or is that outdated/ restrictive?

A couple of alternatives (I hope that links are OK? Otherwise admin, feel free to delete post) :

I think an outfit can look really elegant and well put together when matching shoes and bags (just like when men often match shoes with belt).

It’s not something I have done since the ‘70s, but I wouldn’t call it either outdated or restrictive. If you like it, then by all means, match shoes to bags! It certainly doesn’t look bad, far from it!

I never do it, but everyone should do what makes them feel comfortable and think helps them look their best.

If I wear green shoes I may wear matching tights for extra emphasis, or just use them as a pop on their own. An emerald ring may look nice too. I have dark green python boots (actually I have 2 pairs) I have no problem wearing a bright green bag with them and elsewhere all black. To me it works because the boots are a combo of black + green, the bright green bag takes of the attention and the black is a continuation of the darkening green.

When I wear a green bag, I don't mind if my scarf has a little green OR I'll wear green gloves. I just like the emphasis all in one part of the body or, just a little touch somewhere else to show I've been paying attention.

I think if you've very classic styling, a bag and shoes to match look fine.

I need to see these boots!

I would say matching shoes and purse is polished and put together, rather than trendy or youthful; so for me it depends on what look/vibe you're going for.

I am a huge bag and shoe matchy matchy person. I can dress super casual, but with matching shoes and bag, it pulls the outfit together and make a polished statement. I buy the same season bag and shoes just to match.

For green shoes, unless you have the exact same shade or brand (e.g. Chanel bag and matching shoes), I would match your clothes instead. For example, if you are wearing a black top, white jeans, and green shoes, for me, I would wear a white bag. The white bag and jeans are coordinated, and the green is your pop of color. The white bag makes the green crispy again the black and white.

Another example is if you have a green top that matches the green shoes. Let's say you are wearing a green top, jeans, and matching green shoes. In this case, I would wear a beige bag, say, Chanel beige claire. That would be a stunning combination, and the Chanel beige claire bag would also be in the spotlight because it pops on its own as the single "beige" item.

Hope these ideas help. Green is gorgeous. I love green... it's a super pop of color, yet soothing and not harsh. Good luck!
