I have a few rings, mostly in white gold or platinum.

I bought a marquise diamond set in yellow gold, set as a vs quality in colour G.
However, when I compare it to my other rings it doesn't seem so white.
Could it be the type of cut or the fact that it is set in yellow gold or do you think the cut may be too shallow?

It could be the yellow gold that is being reflected, but it may just be the diamond. Where did you get it from? Yellow in diamonds does tend to show up more in fancies, though. Has it been appraised? I would suggest you have it appraised by an independant appraiser and see what they have to say.

One thing i learnt about marquise diamonds is that they can have what they call a 'bow-tie' in the centre (you can literally see the shape of a bow-tie) and this can make it a little more dull than other diamond shapes.
