Marker on my soles

I bought a pair of Louboutins that have marker on the sole of one shoe from the store--apparently to prevent returns. Is there ANY way to get it off without ruining the sole?? It's right under the heel, so it can be seen, and I want it gone. I've considered painting over it--what else could I do to get it off??

Goo Gone melts the red laquer if you leave it on, so wipe quickly and clean the residue off with water afterwards. I'm serious - I left it on once for a few seconds and there was a little bubbling going on.

Your best bet is Mr. Clean magic eraser. I've heard it works wonders on black permanent marker. I buy stock in that stuff, it is the best. Good luck!

just don't rub too hard. The eraser will also deplete the red finish.

Oh I thought it was the in the insole of the shoe; yes be careful scrubbing the red!

Unfortunately, I tried both the magic eraser and goo gone and neither worked. The magic eraser took off some of the shine in that area, but no marker.

Am I doing it wrong?
