Forgive me if this is has been addressed already.
I noticed that many Birkins on e-bay bear the year mark K (2007 I guess) and what I suppose is the maker's mark: 25S. It seems to me a lot of bags for one man to have made in one year.
Could some of you experts set me straight as to how I can evaluate these marks to authenticate a potential purchase?
Thanks you ahead of time.

I suggest you post your bag in question on the authenticate this thread. The experts will tell you whether fake or authentic. Generally speaking, we do not reveal why as there are many who will try to replicate and correct the flaws we see.

Thank you hermesmonkey, this problem didn't occur to me. I have no specific bag at the moment. It's just that these marks show up a lot. Will submit when I find the bag of my dreams.

Jane, you have to be very, very, careful buying a bag on Ebay.
There are replica sites in Asia that allow buyers to request their own makers mark. If someone knows an authentic craftspersons ID they can have it put on fake bags! I have found sites that are using date stamps from 2006,so sellers can claim they are pre-loved bags.
