Maida Hobo or Carryall MM?

Hi all,

I am looking for a replacement for my Neverfull MM in empreinte turtledove. After all the drama with the yellowing, I am now considering trying something else. I absolutely love the neverfull, and the Carryall seems like a great alternative, but I wish it didn’t have the buckle straps. I have always loved the Maida hobo as well, but I worry about the pockets getting stretched out and saggy-looking. I love that the Maida has removable strap options. Does anyone have any insight or recommendations on what would be the best way to go?

I first ordered the carryall MM but when it arrived didn’t think there was much there to justify the price. It probably doesn’t help I bought much of my canvas collection when prices were so much lower, like my neverful GM was just over £400. Anyway I sent it back despite loving it on other people and fell instantly in love with the Maida.
I adore my Maida, it feels expensive, well designed and it is versatile. I love the braided strap and the fact you can wear it both casual n smart. Absolutely no issue with the outside pockets. I only ever use one to put my phone in n it’s so handy….
However, 9 months after getting it, I couldn’t get the carryall out of my head. Someone I follow on instagram uses hers all the time n absolutely looks fab with it. Therefore the night before the price rise I ordered it again. I still think it is a lot of money for what it is (Louis has got us not brainwashed that things like the Maida are good value compared to canvas!!!!). I haven’t used it yet but I’m definitely keeping it. It’s such a great casual and travel bag. I think it looks like a classic and I actually love the strap. I had the chance to get the leather version but think the vachetta strap looks best against the mono canvas. Im so pleased I have it in my collection and now I can stop thinking about it.
if I could have only one….I would go with the Maida as I think it’s a really smart looking bag and looks special. You can wear it casual over the body or take the long strap off and wear in crook of arm. I do feel like you get something worth more for your money x

I never intended to have both….I loved the idea of a bag I could carry as a tote and something I could turn into a cross body if I needed to (eg for travel or just being a mum and wanting to be hands free). I thought the Maida would be the answer and as per my previous reply thought I would get more for my money but the carryall just still was in my head. I think it’s just gives a total different look and for me it is the strap against the mono that I love. I’ve never been a big mono bag fan before, I would normally get DE and save the mono for SLGs but like I say there is something about the bag. I did try the turtledove on and it is a stunning bag but to me it’s a total different vibe but I guess it is how you will use it. For me I wanted to be able to travel with it and I’d be worried with the light colour of the turtledove whereas the canvas is care free. I liked the idea I could travel with the bag and have the pochette inside for evenings (I say that but I’ll still probably take multiple other bags!!!).
I do have the NF GM in DE and it now feels ones of those bags that I’m pleased I have in my wardrobe but I’d take the carryall out now above it due to the more comfortable strap. Keep us updated on what you decide….love these bags x
