magnetic closure on my mbmj

I'm having problems with magnetic closure on my marc by marc jacobs bag.
When two magnets stick to each other, it is difficult to tear them apart and I am affraid that my bag might break. I tried putting a small part of hair pin on the magnets but that is not permanent solution. Does anyone has suggestions? Am I just being overprotective?

i started to think that i am just being too silly with the bobby pin thing. thanks to you, i realize that thing with magnets is a real problem!
