I was looking for something to help me sleep last night and went to the shopping channel (QVC). they were selling MAC. this made me think MAC is losing prestige. I found this article.

I have never bought Mac and I don't know QVC very well. Some brands got their start on QVC like bare minerals and Laura Geller. My guess is people outside the QVC world won't know so won't care. They're not the same audience.

It's a shame because Mac has always been one of the more inclusive brands re shades. Plus, lots of those client-facing employees will be makeup artists. It's hard to find a start in that field.

I'm not a huge MAC fan but their prices are on the lower end for dept store cosmetics and they do make some good things. Now that I think about it, I think I've seen Lancome products on QVC too and they have the same parent company if I'm not mistaken

I think there's just so much competition these days, it's crazy.

Estée Lauder own so many beauty brands but L'Oréal own Lancome.

This article is over two years old and from the pandemic ... I'm not sure how relevant it is now. I did find Estee Lauder's annual report, but didn't feel like combing through 200+ pages of it.
