Considering the Lymington in DA as a new everyday/work bag. It's big enough to fit my laptop and has a top zip (!!!) which somehow is very difficult to find in designer bags.

I'm new to LV though (this will be my first LV purchase) so I'm wondering how the DA will hold up with color transfer and how the vachetta will hold up? I'd like to use it pretty much every day rain or shine, but also don't want to destroy the bag. I'm also not a big fan of the DE so I'd only consider the bag in the lighter DA.

Any thoughts are appreciated!

Honestly for a first bag I would not recommend Azur at all. And to use Azur every day I would say no again. The Lymington is only about 9 or 10 inches high so unless you have a small laptop I do not see it fitting in there (not zipped any way) - not to mention the shape of the bag would be an issue as well. Definitely will experience color transfer depending on your daily attire - jeans would be a huge no no. Oh no and rain for vachetta is not a good idea at all. I would definitely recommend a DE but I see that's not your taste. Lighter colors you really need to take into consideration that some of the things we use daily are pretty nasty like laptops, phones, ect. . . By all means buy what you like but I wouldn't expect this bag to look very good in the long run for the purposes you pointed out above. Hope that helps.

My opinion is designer bags are not meant for laptop and lunch carrying - so when trying to use a bag that really is just a handbag for other things there is definitely a high probability of ruining a very expensive bag. Unless it is a messenger bag or actual laptop bag.

Good advice, thus why I didn’t get an DA bag. Color transfer. Denim. Black. Reds. Dye transfer is something to not have to constantly worry about, for me.

I have had a Totally mm in DA for 3 years as a work bag and no color transfer and I use rain or shine (vachetta straps are thin though). I also have a Speedy b25 in DA with no color transfer. That being said I do not use my speedy when it rains because of the amount of vachetta exposed and I don’t want that to look bad/spotty. If you don’t think rain spots will bother you I would go for it. Some other non vachetta and non DE bags you could consider the Pallas or the V tote as both can be crossbody and rain or shine, also could potentially fit the laptop.

I know it's not what you're currently considering but I highly recommend a Speedy B in DE (an all weather bag if there ever was one) or a Neverfull (I have the my LV world tour version with black trim) for an everyday/ work bag. They both have been great workhorse bags for me. Its never bothered me that the NF doesn't have a zipper. Good luck! Let us know what you decide on.

I just got my first LV last month and I went with the Lymington in DE. I live in a snowy state so I definitely needed something that’s weather friendly. I love it and it carry it a lot but I don’t see it fitting any laptop .
