LVMH buying Tiffany

I don’t think it is a great move. Personally I can’t stand Tiffany, where I live there are several stores that are always empty. Nowadays it’s not the glorious brand that it used to be, all it’s sold are tiny boring jewelry pieces that are overpriced. Again I am sorry if someone here love Tiffany, my opinion is not intended to ruffle any feathers

Unsurprising. I never shop at T so I really don’t care. But brands purchased and redeveloped by LVMH usually do a lot better than on their own. If you don’t love the idea of giant corporations running luxury houses, you’re too late!! They basically all belong to LVMH and Kering already. Arnault has been doing this for 40 years. He knows what he’s doing.

I was interested to read that LVMH already owns Bulgari and Chaumet, both of which are more specialized than Tiffany's by far. My gut instinct is that I do not favor Tiffany's being sold to a huge conglomerate, but others are correct that this is the way of the world these days. And I think Bulgari is able to maintain its own esthetic despite the ownership by LVMH. I have never been into a Chaumet store or seen their pieces, so I don't know about Chaumet.

I am a big fan of Tiffany's. A couple of my core pieces of jewelry are from there, and I've had a very good experience with customer service. They are an iconic part of American history and they have a lot of creative pieces. I appreciate their efforts to create pieces that are marketable at different levels, ranging from silver pieces that may be a young person's first piece of Tiffany, to really unique pieces that we can only dream of. I wish they didn't have pressure to keep expanding and keep expanding sales. The world can only handle so many stores till everything feels like a Starbucks-level expansion.
