LV speedy 30

I am going to buy LV speedy 30 and wondering how to take care of them. It is my 1st Lv bag and I heard that overtime the handle change into honey looking color? Why?
Anyway to prevent stain?

the handles will turn darker over time. i don't do anything at all to care for my lv bags. they are pretty durable! congrats on your first LV!
