LV scam in Paris

I have shopped in 3 stores in Paris and in all 3 of them the transaction went as so:

1) I worked with an SA on the sales floor to shop and select my items

2)We then went to a computer on the sales floor to enter my passport information

3) The SA then escorted me to a cash register where a cashier waited to complete the transaction. The SA stood by while the cashier charged me for my purchases.

So, I must say I find this story hard to believe. The entire process is very formal and strict, exact motions are followed by the staff. This is just my opinion based on my multiple shopping experiences in LV Paris boutiques.

Yeh that's what my shopping experiences have been also - it's quite systematic and everything is processed in front of you.

This sounds like a myth to me. I've shopped at three LV stores in Paris - Montaigne, Champs Elysees and most recently, the Saint Germain store just this week - and do not believe this could happen.

ok, I feel sad now :sad:coz it seems to me that people are thinking that I am making story up. I am just trying to share my experience. Shouldn't have post this here and just keep quiet. It's ok if you don't believe it, but please don't say that I am making something up myself.

To be fair you did make some pretty serious allegations in the OP without any real evidence.

I just think the majority of the posters are making a rational judgment of the situation presented and are rightly dismissing your claims.

i think its more likely a misunderstanding than an outright scam.

I agree with DD.

I'm not saying you are making this story up, but this is extremely hard to believe. The Paris boutique is highly trafficked, and I'm sure a ton of non-French or non-English speaking tourists go there. If they scam all these tourists, they cannot get away with it. Not unless they're an underground business or something, but this is Louis Vuitton. The tourists WILL call the police and if all these people call the police about this boutique scamming them, doesn't that raise a huge red flag? And the tourists won't keep quiet about it either, we're talking about hundreds and thousands of dollars, so they wouldn't give up on getting their money back? If you did not make this story up, which I will believe you if you said you didn't, it's probably just a misunderstanding or a story made up by your friends. I know people like to exaggerate their stories sometimes to get attention
